    Having spent 10 days in Tokyo I was thrilled to arrive in Kanazawa (via bullet train) and notice straight away how it was "quiet"...less people on the streets, less humid (nice relief) and overall the city operated at a slower pace - a nice reprieve. Also, a great city to walk around - all of the tourist attractions, I think, are within a few miles so no need for buses / taxi's etc. I would highly recommend for a 2 day visit - not sure if more is required to hit the main tourist sites.

    Small, but perfectly formed.Fantastic boutique hotel in a brilliant location. We booked a superior family room, although there was just the two of us, knowing from previous trips to Japan that space is at a premium and for longer stays a bit more space makes a big difference. The breakfast, traditional Japanese style was one of the best we’ve ever had, simple delicious and beautifully presented. Last but not least the staff, welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. They made our stay a memorable one.

    Plenty of historic buildings and areas within the city.

    Plenty of historic buildings and areas within the city. A great assortment of dining options. Including in and around Omicho Market. Well placed to explore the surrounding area (I chose to walk and use public transport, a hire car would have given even more options). A relaxed city. If you like running/jogging there are good options, especially riverside paths and a great parkrun at Saigawa Ryokuchi Koen.

    Kanazawa is a worthy location, however I expected it to be...

    Kanazawa is a worthy location, however I expected it to be more visually interesting than it was. It is often compared as a "smaller" version of Kyoto. It may indeed be smaller, but Kyoto is far more diverse and beautiful.

    Kanazawa is incredibly beautiful and felt like an underrated gem when we went there, as there were virtually no other tourists and the city was very calm and quiet. Lots of things to do, see and explore, and it kind of gives off similar vibes to Kyoto (with the historical districts and the river flowing through the city) but without the crowds. We had an amazing time there and would definitely return. We mostly walked everywhere because every street was gorgeous to look at. I recommend to visit the Kanazawa Castle and the garden next to it, the historical chaya districts (there are multiple) and the Oyama Shrine grounds. The city also offers amazing museums, which are worth a visit as well!

    I loved that you could walk around the whole of Kanazawa.

    I loved that you could walk around the whole of Kanazawa. There were so many interesting areas, good food and lots of history. It was a spacious town, with a mix of modern and old architecture. The proximity to other attractions and the mountains was also a bonus. It is easy to get to and I would highly recommend people visit.

    Excellent location just steps away from Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen Gardens and a few minutes walk from Kazuemachi and Higashi Chaya. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpfu. l The room comes with all the standard amenities (we had a Japanese style room). The hotel is quiet at night. The cost of the hotel may seem a little steep but the value can be gained by using the really nice hot spring baths (no private baths).

    Great location In Kanazawa, walking distance to major sites and a short bus ride to the central station. Don't miss out on Omaya shrine, a minute from the hotel door. Very attentive and friendly staff. Room was very spacious by Japan standards. washer/dryer was handy for our trip. Plenty of Konbini a few minutes walk.

    we were a family of four with two double rooms at the property. Best way is to describe as a boutique hotel in a quiet street in Kanazawa. The staff are very attentive and take the breakfast option as its traditional japanese breakfast. Extremely close to Omichi market and many restaurants options.

    Very clean and comfy room and comparatively well sized for Japan. We requested a baby cot and they provided one which was great. The staff were very friendly and the hotel is very well located close enough to the train station and all attractions in Kanazawa.
