Perfect size city , all the mod cons without the mad cap rat race of Tokyo or Osaka. Excellent amount of restaurants and food outlets with a great food hall at the bottom of the main shopping area. We were there for two days, which felt a bit short.
We were there for two days, which felt a bit short. The castle is a must-see, if only for the view from the top, of the city with mountains in the background. The Sunday Market is also a must, if you're there on the weekend. The small Science Museum near the castle was fun and very hands on, mainly for kids but also a nice detour for adults. We also found a Back to the Future DeLorean in the Automobile Museum, which was a nice surprise. Katsuo (bonito) is famous in Kochi, it's flame cooked a little on the outside but still raw on the inside and pretty tasty.Guest review byMichael in JapanJapan - 8.0

Tasty hastu-gatsuo and beautiful botanical garden! Makino botanical garden is within 15 minutes by car from the central Kochi. It has its own beauty even in winter, but the beauty comes in the other seasons. Hirome Market is also one of the must-go spots. the tourist train from Kochi is higly recommended, it is better to self driving for visiting Kochi as we found that the schedule of bus travelling around is limited and not too frequet , it would be great if there is more bike rental shop as we visited a little area Tosa and we found that there was no rental shop for bicycles , so disappointed.Guest review byWendyHong Kong - 10.0

Probably very frequently overlooked city in Shikoku, it was definitely worth a visit. Firstly, the city center is very walkable, of course, the main highlight of the city is the castle. It is one of the smaller castles in the country, but the surrounding grounds are open to public 24 hours a day, which, of course, gave me an option to visit it during a nice early morning weather, without the crowds and everything connected with them. There are other places I wanted to see, but the Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden was definitely one of the spots I could not miss. Really a beautiful place, which would be even more nice if the sakura blossom forecast was a bit more accurate. I missed a visit of Shikoku Automobile museum, but there are only some things a man can do in one full day of visit. Next time.Guest review byStanislavJapan

Its a reliable budget friendly chain that is entirely non smoking. The room was comfortable clean and there was a choice of pillows as I found the one in the room too hard. The breakfast buffet is simple but adequate. The library is a nice place to relax. The hotel offers a map with restaurant suggestions. There was a large parking lot.
