This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. Contemporary Elegance: A new hotel with impeccable taste. Spacious and Well-Equipped: All the amenities you could possibly need from a well-appointed kitchen, complete with a coffee machine, to a convenient washer/dryer. Fantastic Facilities: Onsen(you might find a better onsen, but this is not an onsen ryokan), a well-equipped gym, and multiple inviting lounges to unwind. Ideal Location: Cose to the ski resorts, right across a convenient store, and within a 5-minute walk of delis and restaurants. Exceptional Staff: They went out of their way to assist me with various requests, including arranging for a book delivery and helping me book activities, even though I had made those arrangements independently. Plus, if you visit Niseko during green season, Setsu is the best choice as many other hotels in the area can feel a little deserted.

Booked a 3 bedroom suite, which was very clean and spacious. Has awesome view of Mt Yotei from our room. Has many eateries and convenience stores within a very short walk. Hotel has own shuttle bus to Welcome Center and King Gondola, as well as a return point for Rhythm ski gears. One of my best stays in recent years.

Amazing hotel. The rooms are spacious and super well equipped. Having a chromecast and a Bose speaker is a nice add! The staff is really nice and helpful. The hotel is quite quiet during off season, which is quite relaxing, perfect for us. The breakfast is amazing, with an impressive variety of products available. The sushi restaurant is epic. The spa is really nice as well. Epic experience.

The room was so comfortable, clean and spacious with an amazing view of mount Yotei! The amenities were also top notch. The breakfast was amazing and changed every day, alternating between Japanese and Western style. It was so abundant and perfect to prepare for a full day of skiing! The hot springs were also amazing, there’s an indoor and outdoor one too (sometimes in other hotels they don’t have outdoor baths for women but this one does and it’s so amazing and relaxing). I was there in late March so it was very quiet and basically had the hot springs too myself! But the best part was the staff: they are so attentive! I’m so grateful to the receptionists who arranged free shuttle bus pick ups during the first and last day. Thank you so much!

    Kutchan is a delightful town that offers the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and local flavor. Nestled near the base of Mount Yōtei, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking year-round — we are admiring snow-covered peaks. A unique highlight is Mishima’s Shibazakura Garden, where vibrant pink moss phlox blooms in spring with Mount Yōtei as a stunning backdrop. We drive around the mountain to get perfect views. As a group of food lovers will enjoy exploring local eateries offering everything from hearty ramen to Kutchan’s famous jaga-imo (potatoes). Don’t miss Tsubara Tsubara for a comforting bowl of soup curry. Kutchan is more than just a ski town—it's a year-round destination full of charm, flavor, and natural beauty.     Kutchan town is not the ski resort.

    Kutchan town is not the ski resort. You have to take a 15-30 mins bus or taxi to nearby Hirafu, Hanazono, Niseko Village or Annupuri resort, which makes up the "Niseko United" ski resort. However, the town is a gateway. A few restaurants is around but they are a bit spread out. There's 2 tasty BBQ restaurant 10 minutes walk away. The Kutchan train station is the gateway to/from Otaru and Sapporo. However, the train is a drag. An 1+ hour plus to Otaru and total 2 hours to Sapporo. Same for bus. Public transportation is lacking at night time. Check schedule or prebook taxi is recommended during night hours.

    Kutchan is a lovely city with friendly locals and widespread English proficiency, making communication easy. There are plenty of options for renting or purchasing snowboard gear, which is convenient for enthusiasts. Overall, I will definitely return to Kutchan.

    Smart Hotel Kutchan was - in my experience - a superb hotel for solo travelers in the summer. The system for using the hotel and etiquette was well-explained. The system for accessing the building outside of front-desk reception staff hours was made clear. There was reasonable privacy in the capsule itself. I made use of the facilities including showers and bathroom which were clean and provided amenities. The location of the hotel is excellent, being only a very short walk away from Kutchan station and nearby shops and restaurants.

    I love the location, our room with the view of Hirafu Mountain. Also, the free breakfast is phenomenal and there is a complementary pick-up from the train station but need to be reserved beforehand. I love the onsen too and the homemade apple cider vinegar in bar/reception during winter. There is also a ski-rental/ski-lesson/ski-locker booking inside the hotel. So it is convenient to store/return the equipments easily after usage.

    A very new hotel. Staff is super helpful. Spacious room with beautiful interiors. There is onsen water coming out of the bathtub water tap. So you could enjoy the view while having a private onsen session in your own room. Located in the Hanazono resort and is within walking distance to the summer gondola, light show, zipline etc. Will definitely visit again!

    There is bus stop in front of the hotel. If you rented the stuff from Rhythm, you can leave at the hotel.
