The best hotel we stayed among 3 cities we visited this time. The room is spacious and super comfy. But what I am impressed the most is the staff. They are not only very helpful but also super polite and friendly. They will move your dropped luggages to your room prior to your check in time. I enjoyed my stay here so much that I wished I should have stayed longer. Plus, they have light and free breakfast (mainly croissants with butter, almond cheese (OMG must try cos it was so goodddd) and jam) with 24hr coffee and tea. ~10 mins walk to Nisiki market.

Insomnia KYOTO was truly one of the highlights of our short trip to Kyoto! Very helpful and friendly staff, eager to answer to all of our questions about sightseeing, place to eat, etc. The room was comfortable, clean, with lots of amenities. A huge plus was the all day buffet with snacks and drinks in case you wanted to hang out at the hotel. I totally recommend Insomnia for staying in Kyoto!

The hotel is lovely, relaxing and smells great. There is an in- house cafe, gym and laundry facilities. Our room was very nice with a modern bathroom and amazing shower. The hotel offered a free drink at the cafe during our stay and is located centrally near many restaurants, convenient stores and a grocery store. Would definitely stay here again.

Loved the vibe, the decor and the helpful staff. I felt it was particularly thoughtful of the hotel to put the washstand outside the bath/toilet area. This way, the second person doesn't have to wait for the first one to vacate the bath/toilet just to use the wash basin.

We have been to Kyoto before, during Cherry Blossom season.

We have been to Kyoto before, during Cherry Blossom season. The number of tourists was physically overwhelming, mentally exhausting and, at times, potentially dangerous. It was very nice to re-visit the popular sights without, literally, millions of people crowding the street and thousands of Instagrammers cluttering up the views with their vapid, narcissistIc posturing.

Historical and beautiful.

Historical and beautiful. Transportation is easier to navigate than other city and food are also great. Considering to visit all temple and collecting the Goshuin -> that took a lot of time :) Considering an option of 1 day Kyoto bus and subway for 1100¥ is a great option for unlimited ride. Day trip to INE is worth also consider but be aware of weather in Dec, can be tricky. Also mostly place in INE is seems to be open on weekend. I was here in Kyoto for foliage and found what I wanted. Still a lot of place couldn't see but let's the next time visit to reclaim.

The Japanese culture, the Japanese put there respect for their country and fellow citizens ahead of their own personal needs. No garbage, no cigarette buts on the streets, no talking on mobile phones in restaurants or on transit. The rest of the world should learn respect from the Japanese.

Kyoto is incredible with the beautiful autumn foliage and the temples are staggering. But know that you will be experiencing it all as part of huge masses of people and rivers of people all there to enjoy it too. There are so many non-Japanese tourists with selfie sticks it starts to feel a little Disneyland of cities. It is difficult to get a picture without several selfie sticks poking into your picture and lines are very long everywhere. The best way to enjoy it is to go to unknown temples that are on the outskirts of town that are just as beautiful and special as the most popular ones and your experience can actually be peaceful and moving. Also, walk the narrow side streets at night to feel something a bit more authentic in atmosphere.

Kyoto is a beautiful city.

Kyoto is a beautiful city. Not as hectic as Tokyo and full of beautiful sites where you feel like you are stepping back in time. The food was consistently delicious, we enjoyed a wonderful Kaiseki meal in Gion. We were lucky to be there in peak fall season and got to see spectacular fall colors, Would love to come back and spend more time here.

1. The luxurious toilets. Better than most 5 star hotels. 2. The excellent location. One minute walk to sanjo Station which is along keihan line which will bring you to most famous sights in kyoto. 3. Close to car rental shop. Do a day trip out with driving. Taxis are everywhere as well. 4. Excellent location again. Walk to gion, nishiki, kamo river, pontocho, ninenzaka, kiyumizudera, shopping area at kawarachi. 5. Huge beds and room. Our room accommodated 2 adults and 2 kids for 4 nights comfortably. Rooms are quiet and clean.

The best thing about the hotel was the location. 7/11 as part of the building, close by to the railway, relatively close to the central station and the general Kyoto market, everything in walking distance on both sides (30 min). It was quiet so we could sleep well in that regard. Bathroom had a good walk-in shower. Shared space had free coffee, tea and cold and hot water for drinks.

Near garden and temple Can walk to main touristy site within 30/40 mins. Small boutique hotel as per Australian standard and I like it. It feels more cosy.
