This was an outstanding experience. The chief priest and his family are amazing. The rooms are big and spacious, the food is very good. Minobu as an area is so beautiful, with large mountains covered with green cedartrees and nestled in between are all the important temples. The chief priest did an astounishing work in introducing us to the buddhist practices. The walk to the morning prayer, 04:45 in the morning is very very rewarding.

Situated just steps away from JR Shimobe Onsen Station, this hotel boasts various natural hot spring baths that date back 2000 years.

As an European we loved Shimobe Hotel. We visited hotel to feel like Japanese people during vacation, and it was brilliant. We could dip our feet in hot water watching koi fish pool, we were invited to mash rice to make rice cakes during evening animations, and there is beautiful stone outdoor onsen. Everything was far beyond our expectations, and I recommend Shimobe Hotel to everyone seeking calmness, relax and friendly atmosphere in traditional Japanese style

Splendid location for the view and Mt.Fuji, and staffs are friendly. It was a worthy experience to go to the lakeside of Lake Motosu, and enjoy the sunrise in the early morning. Note, Kouan is a must-visit spot for Yuru Camp fans to visit.

Big open grounds, friendly staff, great amenities. Unfortunately it rained during our stay but there was a moment where we could see Mt Fuji, so the view would usually be fantastic. Very close to the nearby lake as well.

It is hard to find something we didn't like honestly. Great accommodation all around. The room was clean, comfortable, well equipped, even had Japanese pajamas ready on the bed. Water and glasses, incredible Mount Fuji view from the room or the balcony upstairs. The whole house was extremely clean. The common room had a giant TV with Netflix, YouTube and even Disney. All the people that we met inside the house were extremely friendly, starting from the staff to the guests. The bathrooms were extremely well equipped, especially for the ladies, with feminine hygiene products. The water pressure in the shower was unbelievable. They offered to take us from the station and back, even to visit the town free of charge. They even offered us some traditional Thai food as one of the owners is Thai. The room downstairs is traditional Japanese with tatami floors and everything. Electric bike rent service was available to explore the rural side of Japan and it was gorgeous. Everything was just amazing and if you choose to stay here, don't forget to write your name on the map and something nice in the memory notebook.

Due to an error in Google Maps' vehicle information, we found out there were no cars available to return to the hotel. We faced a 3-hour walk from Asama Shrine to Shiraito Park, mostly uphill with barely any streetlights. Just when we were on the verge of breaking down and feeling helpless, the host kindly drove to pick us up and brought us back to the hotel. Without her help, we would’ve had to walk the entire way 😭😭😭. On top of that, the hotel’s environment is fantastic—stepping out the door, you’re greeted by a lovely garden, and just a few steps away is the stunning Shiraito Waterfall. It’s absolutely worth the long journey!
