very nice hotel with good onsen and very close to station. The rooms were clean and the personnal qualified. The breakfast was good having a mix of everything but of course mainly japanese food as expected in this area of Japan which is not Tokyo. The hotel has a coin laundry which is appreciated as we used it. The onsen is normal for this kind of hotel but always appreciated and products are good. I especially liked the shaving foam with mint perfume (I even tried to buy it in a drug store but could not find the same). Parking for free and only 3 min walk to station. My son enjoyed to watch the Shinkansen leaving Shinjo.

It's a great location for visiting the gorge, rooms are really comfortable, there's a kitchenette with fridge and microwave, even cold drinks in the fridge - you just drop your money into the jar - and free coffee/tea/water. A lovely detail was a 'gift' of a small onsen towel for scrubbing. The local onsen is just a few minutes' walk away and costs only ¥200. There are fancier ones nearby. I didn't meet the hosts but check-in with key code is easy, and they gave me helpful tips.

The staff was very helpful and with excellent English. I had a room in traditional Japanese style, it was huge and comfortable (unless you don't like sleeping on futon). I couldn't go to onsen , but it seemed really nice. And they have really good cosmetics in the bathroom.

The property was clean, spacious, and in a lovely location with a view of the mountains from the room. The bath on the 6th floor was lovely and the little outdoor section was a nice experience in the cool weather. The baths have all the things you need for your washing and skin care so you can just bring a towel if you want. The buffet was SO GOOD! Highly recommend getting half board during your stay. The other facilities like the table tennis, manga room, etc. were nice too. Karaoke is pay per hour per person. Also, the staff were extremely friendly and professional. They always helped us with any questions and brought a baby chair for us every mealtime.

Faded grandeur, once a pretty fancy hotel it is now a bit tatty around the edges but that is part of it's charm, lovely big rooms. It's a long way from the station, don't try to walk it if your bag is heavy, just get a taxi. Good ramen place next door. There is a shuttle bus to take you back to the station on departure.
