It was our first visit to Hokkaido, we drove into Sapporo after touring other areas within Hokkaido. There are lots of restaurants/ cafes/ bakeries to enjoy and many day trip opportunities. People are very nice although we felt they don't express with smiles as much as in other parts of Japan. Hokkaido, in general, was great to drive around while within Sapporo taxi is the most convenient and was of good value for two of us to get around. It was difficult to communicate the destination with drivers. You want to save the image of the location address in Japanese character to show. The phone number of the destination also works but hotel numbers are generally for reservation and you want to ask the hotel to provide the phone number that can be used for GPS input.

Sapporo is essentially a North American frontier city with heavy European influence, but from a Japanese perspective. Kind of like Japanese Denver or Anchorage. Sapporo has some of the best food in Japan. The people also seemed much friendlier, but the locals seemed to not agree. I may have just gotten lucky.

October is a great time to visit Sapporo!

October is a great time to visit Sapporo! Weather-wise, getting chilier than rest of Japan, but no humidity! Fall color! People at Sapporo are friendly and helpful. Lots to do around the covered malls. Nearby at Otaru, I went to make a music box at the Music Box museum. Along that street are SO many wonderful and artistic places to visit, as well as good foods.

Sapporo is a gem.

Sapporo is a gem. I think it's underrated and few people visit here but this is the best countryside location I have been to. Liked the city vibe - very relaxed, slow paced unlike Tokyo, Osaka. Loved our day tour to Asahiyama Zoo, Ningle Terrace.

This is my first trip to Sapporo.

This is my first trip to Sapporo. It looks like a center where you can easily explor to another area in Hokkaido. Our group enjoyed a daily visit to Otaru and Jozankei including walking around Sapporo center. We also enjoyed eating the local menu and some shopping. My favorite part is CTS airport where you can find varities of nice sweet of Hokkaido which I can not find in town. I do not hesitate to visit again.

City is very pleasant and liveable with wide streets in a grid pattern that make navigating easy. Main attraction was as the main centre for Hokkaido, with day trips to outlying areas (Otaru, Cape Kamui, Yoichi etc) as the real draw card. Sapporo Beer Museum was also excellent.

Friendly Helpful Staff Convenient location within walking distance to the Sapporo Station where the train stops from the Airport (Bus from Airport actually stops right at the hotel but the timing was not as convenient as us catching the train) 7-Eleven just across the street and Lawson/Family Mart nearby too We also walked to the Clock Tower, Sapporo TV Tower, Nijo Fish Market and Sapporo Beer Museum (although the beer Museum may be too far for most people to walk) Bus to the ski field has this hotel as a pick up point

This is a old fashion style hotel. But they have good breakfast, good services, and good location. It's just next to Nakashima Park. Good for elder persons to walk around the park in the morning. The Metro station is just at the hotel entrance. Airport bus station is just across the street. Close to Susukino for restaurants and shopping.

Is not easy to find a hotel to accommodate 3 children in a room. I'm glad I found Sappoto Excel Hotel Tokyu. It is very clean, the price is affordable, we have all the facilities we need. The staff are very friendly. The nearby Nakajima park is beautiful. We love this hotel. Our children room can see Sapporo tv Station tower.

Great location, straight across the road from the train station. An easy walk to the park and clocktower. Fantastic restaurants in the underground walkway right outside the door to the hotel.

The hotel is a brand new one, just across the Sapporo JR Station. Very convenient if you just stay overnight in Sapporo. The hotel room is small, but very clean.
