Hotel Kanaloa is in a strategic place, immediately close to the ferry port, in the quiet Tokashiki. Super easy to get to the main beaches through the shuttle bus, very efficient. Rooms are not huge but very clean and organised. Can get great food at the restaurant (Marina was awesome, extremely nice and smiley!). Staff is very kind and helpful. Highly recommended.

The landscape and the beach are marvellous. This might be the most beautiful piece of nature I ever saw in my life. We brought our own snorkling equipment (which I highly suggest) and where able to see a grand variety of fish and even green turtles in the coral reeve directly in the bay. Also you can explore wild beaches during low tide or do some hiking on the island. The staff in the hotel is very nice and the food is tasty.

We had the best stay ever! This location is truly paradise. the host is incredibly helpful. He offers to help you make restaurant reservations and organise transport to get there since there isnt really a bus or taxis on the island. He picked us up from the ferry and dropped us off again. He made us really nice breakfast sandwiches every morning. The most helpful thing was that we got a bit unlucky with the weather there was a typhoon and tsunami warning and he always informed us and kept us up to date about whats going on. The ferry wasnt going because of the weather so he organised a boat taxi that drove us to the island! Incredibly proactive and a lovely person! We recommend staying there.

I was there for five days (planned for seven days to include five days of diving), and my stay was cut short by the threat of a typhoon. Tokashiki is quiet - you have to make your own activities, which are water-based. We found a couple of exceptional restaurants and a food truck with great vibes. Lots of friendly locals.

The beach here really is one of the best in Japan, maybe one of the best in the world. Crabs and coral and beautiful seashells everywhere. It's so natural. Beautiful white sand and blue sea. Best of all is under the water. Coral gardens, colorful fish, sea turtles

Tokashiki is the largest of the Kerama Islands.

Tokashiki is the largest of the Kerama Islands. There are some great spots for swimming, snorkeling, and diving from the shore, but a boat trip will be required for some of the other spots, particularly the northern portion of the island. The roads are narrow, but it's worth touring around the island on some of the back roads for the various views and wildlife.

My goal was snorkeling, and there were plenty of beautiful spots nearby, so I wanted to try two spots in one go. The signs at the bus stops everywhere said the last bus was around 1:00 p.m., and it was mostly for renting to use at the beach. It wasn't summer, and not many people were swimming at the beach. I'd never seen a company offering snorkeling or diving by boat, taking me to two spots. Having visited many times, I'm not satisfied with just a quick visit to one spot.

A very beautiful island for its beaches, sea and snorkeling.

A very beautiful island for its beaches, sea and snorkeling. There is a strange atmosphere, everything is very simple and not luxurious, there is a lot of tuition during the day and then in the evening you are magnificently alone on the beach. There are a few nice and good restaurants.

About the beach water.

About the beach water. Many people want to enjoy safe snorkeling at the beach. It's a good idea to bring a life jacket or rent one locally, in addition to your snorkeling gear. Lifeguards will come if you're not wearing a life jacket. While some say goggles are OK, I think that's still dangerous. Even within the buoy-enclosed area on the beach, the currents are strong and the tides are powerful. Lifeguards and guide pamphlets say the water is shallow, but you won't be able to touch the bottom. It's extremely dangerous if you don't check it with your own eyes. There are usually very few waves.
