I was pleasantly surprised by the attention to the finer details and the hotel seemed to have an old world maritime-aerial theme. Quite appropriate for an Airport hotel situated on a small manmade island, in the Ise Bay of Tokoname city. The front of house girls were extra helpful and we met a very lovely bartender, during happy hour, who again gave me some peace in knowing there are some lovely souls out there, just doing their job but are just as curious as a visitor is to get to know more about the world. Her professionalism and ease of conversation in what must be a second or third language was just the perfect note to finish our holiday in Japan. Plus the perfect kickoff to our mini stay at Singapore on our way home to Sydney.

They had a shuttle bus from the hotel but it only took us around the airport to the hotel which is great if you are staying just one night but we found out there was a different shuttle bus called "Tokonyan" and that will take you to Aeon for free and pick up is just behind the hotel. Though Toyoko-inn is known for a business hotel among the country, it was fairly comfortable and great Japanese breakfast, the price point is unbeatable.

Stayed with family which included a preschooler, in one of the Japanese style twin rooms. Bookings weren't the easiest to get (I think multiple groups cycle in and out as a final destination before heading to the airport) but I'm glad we did! Staff were friendly and spoke English well. Room was large and comfortable (minor inconvenience of having to take off your shoes at the lift landing rather than at your room). Easy access to the airport (even the local trains weren't crowded in that direction in the morning and we had no trouble going in with our luggage), and to the tiny and beautiful cafes of the Pottery Footpath locale! Aeon mall was one stop (or a short walk) away.

The Yamanaka are exceptional hosts making my stay one that felt as comfortable as home. They are respectful of guest’s private space while remaining accessible and helpful.     One of Japan's six ancient kiln towns.

    One of Japan's six ancient kiln towns. If you are into ceramics it's a brilliant place to visit. If you're not, it's a lovely, relaxed town with nice walks and good places to eat. Very close to Nagoya airport. There is a free shuttle bus into Tokoname or use the station. Home of the lucky waving cat - Maneki Neko!
