Beautiful villa with lovely environment. Very well equipped kitchen and bbq facilities. Fireplace at living. Nice coffee brewing set with delicious coffee as well as drip coffee provided. Really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

The house was beautifully presented, lots of extra touches. It was also very warm, and had comfortable beds. Lovely indoor wooden bath (we didn't try the outside tub). Just 5 minutes down the road is Otowa Bridge, where you can see the Japanese Cranes at dawn (flying right over you).

Loved the coziness of the cabin , and that it was so well kept . The host was lovely too. We had breakfast at the cafe they ran at the office building , and it was so good All in all, a lovely stay !

The purpose of this trip was to observe the "crane dance."

The purpose of this trip was to observe the "crane dance." While the main focus of observations from Tsurumidai and Otowa Bridge was the hunting scene, we were also able to see the cranes dancing, taking off, and even flying. Across the main road from Tsurumidai is the restaurant "Doremifa Sora." Its backyard is set up as a bird feeder, where we were able to observe birds such as great spotted woodpeckers, brown-eared bulbuls, and Japanese long-tailed tits. Additionally, the Onne Visitor Center has a boardwalk that allows visitors to observe not only wild birds but also deer, making it a great facility for nature observation. It was a shame that there was only a cold vending machine.

Last May, I passed through Tsurui Village and saw only young...

Last May, I passed through Tsurui Village and saw only young red-crowned cranes in the grasslands. The parent birds were raising their young in the marshlands, so I couldn't see them. So, I really wanted to stay in Tsurui Village in the winter and see the red-crowned cranes in the snow, so I stayed for two nights. The cottage was very close to Tsurumidai, so I walked there in the mornings and evenings to see the cranes. I was impressed by the large number of cranes I was able to see. The other facilities in Tsurui Village are also very comfortable, making it a very cozy village.

This is a place rich in nature, representing eastern...

This is a place rich in nature, representing eastern Hokkaido. Red-crowned cranes were seen from the car window while driving in a field beside the road. There were also many northern fish, insects, and plants. The air is clean, and the starry sky is beautiful. The food is delicious. The most common man-made things are fields and ranches. Once you stray a little from the main roads, there is almost no traffic. There are almost no traffic lights except on prefectural roads. Considering the population, there are a fair number of convenience stores and shops. It is a comfortable drive, and the mountain passes are gentle with good visibility. There is also good road access to neighboring areas such as Lake Akan, Kushiro, Shibecha, and Teshikaga. This is a must-see spot when traveling in eastern Hokkaido.
