Onn Yuda Onsen far exceeded our expectations. This was a stopover after visiting Yamaguchi, and Yuda Onsen is really close; its small and charming train station only 10 mn walk from the hotel (look for the numerous, legendary foxes along your way!) and there is a very convenient public parking next door. The hotel is quite new, and our room, though on the small side, had everything we wished for. The baths are shared with the next door, more upmarket hotel, and so is the dining/breakfast room : a covered path links them. If you want more privacy, there is a lovely private bath in Onn Yuda Onsen premices; 3500 y for an hour. All spaces are thoughtfully designed with understated elegance and an attention to practicality. There is a (discreet) vending machine with cold water and tea on 1st floor so you don't need to go out, and a microwave. The buffet breakfast is good, with a large range of produits. The people at the reception were lovely. And the price was, for this quality, a bargain.

With the second-best road environment in the nation (...

With the second-best road environment in the nation (Hokkaido is number one), it was easy to drive. There were occasional traffic jams (due to construction work), but I was able to drive in a rental car with almost no stress. It's not often mentioned in guidebooks, but I think you should visit the Kaiten Memorial Museum (Kaiten Memorial Museum). The Chiran Peace Museum in Kagoshima Prefecture was a painful and difficult experience, but the story of the young people who lost their lives in this inhumane operation of human torpedoes was also painful. However, I think it's a fact that we as Japanese people should know. It's a shame that it's not well known.

We only used the hotel as a stop over - it was a nice hotel fairly close to the station and restaurant (there is a restaurant with a robot waiter a few doors down). It was clean, had its own onsen and provided free drinks in the evening.

The rooms in this hotel are slightly larger than normal Japanese business hotels, which is refreshing. The facilities were very clean and it is only a couple steps away from the Shinkansen station.

Superb location, near to the Shin-Yamaguchi Station. Comfortable room and really good value. And include breakfast. Friendly staff and the laundry was a plus when you travel light.
