Kampt is a nice little town to visit to get away from the madness in Phnom Penh. It has a very laid back vibe and feels safe. Quite a few good options for dining and a wide variety of accommodations. Enjoyed three days just outside of town. We used it as a hub to visit Bokor National park, La Fontaine pepper farm and the salt flats via a scooter. It was hard to see so many alcoholic older expat men living there. I did go into one of the girly bars with a friend one night and they let you drink your beer without to much bother. if you showed and interest in them of course then they would start the hustle on ya but otherwise they let you be. I loved the trip to Bokor Mt. It's beautiful temples and history .Totally loved seeing those healthy happy Silver gibbons in their natural habitat. I was getting addicted to Tuk Tuk rides ,they were so much fun and very cheap. But it was good to be able to give the very skilled drivers a tip. They were so helpful and courteous.The river cruise was beautiful and although it was the wrong season to be spotting fireflys ,it was very serene and lovely to see other resorts and quaint little buildings from the boat. Not much Birdlife though.I thought would be cormorants and ducks.And I'm kind of glad that roasted Rat wasn't on my agenda😮Guest review byWhelan - 8.0
Kampot may not be a big town, but it has plenty of things to...
Kampot may not be a big town, but it has plenty of things to offer: cruising on the river, kayaking, visits of pepper plantations, trips to nearby Kep or to the mountains... We could have easily spent another day or two in Kampot. The atmosphere dowtown is lively, especially at night, with many restaurants, bars, night markets etc.Guest review byBettina

Opening up the door in the morning straight onto a balcony on top of the river was priceless. Food was really nice too, good variety and all cooked fresh. Lots of vegan/vegetarian options too. We basically never left the hotel as the food was so good and the location stunning. Kayaks for free are available, which we used and enjoyed, and two very comfy hammocks on the balcony. The standard rooms have a smart TV with all entertainment included. The hotel even has a rooftop bar with lovely views over the city and river. The hotel is placed perfectly, just off the busy downtown and the riverfront, such a quick walk to everything but still quiet. The manager and the staff were incredibly nice and helpful.
