Location was perfect for all BENTOTA & surrounding activities. The beach was just across the river for which the owner provided a free boat service. The property was very well maintained, clean & comfortable. The deck facing the river was the icing on the cake. Owner couple were so friendly & accomodating. The breakfast was too good & fresh. Amber house also has a great menu for meals. The swimming pool was cool & clean.

We booked two rooms for us and our three sons. The rooms were large, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and was served on our balcony. The location was great - just a short walk from the bus, train and the beach. We enjoyed our stay so much that we stayed longer. Chami was very friendly and helpful as were all of the staff. We would stay longer if we could.

A truly exceptional small hotel near one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka. We stayed for two nights at first and after a few nights in Galle we returned to Villa Bentota given that the hotel was just so good. The hotel buildings and interiors are really beautiful and clean. The room is cleaned in the morning and the staff also enquires if there is a need to do a second cleaning later during the stay. The surroundings are exceptional. All of the staff at the hotel very helpful (although at least one of them was only in it for the tips) and very professional. Special thanks to Chamod and Malith. The breakfast was amazing and the best we had in the 7 hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka. Lunch and dinner were great as well, offering the option to cook essentially whatever the client likes (of course within limits).

Sisi built a super nice and modern acommendation. Nice and modern bathroom and the sleeping room is with a cool a/c and ventilator. Sisi and his family are very friendly and warmheartly, they made a great breakfast and fruit juices. You can park your scooter or tuktuk safe on Sisi's place. There is a train, that drives by a few times a day, but not in the night. But it didint bother us. You can take a walk of 2 minutes to find nice restaurants and a large beach. We can recommend Sisi's place to everyone! Thanks again Sisi and your wife for the nice talks and for learning a few things about your nationality ☺️

We did not venture into Bentota.

We did not venture into Bentota. We are expats living in Colombo so no need to explore the city. The hotel was at the right spot for a 100% relaxing weekend away with no distractions. The ocean is not that swimmable as the sea was very rough and looked dangerous. The pool was a welcome alternative. We drove to Galle for the Saturday to watch the game between Springboks and Kiwis. That was not too far, one hour away and a very scenic route. The hotel was also fully booked so must be popular.

Stayed at Thaala Bentota recently and had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent—right by the beach with easy and direct access, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hotel itself is well-maintained with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a good variety and fresh options. Dinner buffet had fewer choices in comparison, but the quality was still decent and satisfying for the price. Overall, a very good place to stay if you’re looking for beachfront accommodation with good service and a peaceful vibe.

We stayed at Janus Paradise restaurant cabanas it was fabulous food was amazing lovely clean rooms , staff extremely helpful . Food was delicious, pool clean , we arrived during the Sri Lankan new year and was given a beautiful meal for breakfast , it was just lovely. Hotel owner Janus very nice and came to sit with us during our evening stay had a great laugh together what a wonderful host

We arrived after 4 days travelling and adventuring so were ready for a relaxing break. We enjoyed the pool at our hotel and swimming in the sea. It was a beautiful few days spent in a beautiful place. We had dinner one night at Catamaran and sat on the beach with a great mojito watching the sunset - grilled seafood was amazing. We walked the beach every day and it was so nice and we weren't bothered by people selling things. We even saw mama turtle tracks which was exciting!

Very serene, clean,natural beach. Only nature loving tourists there No crowd no hooligans Can have uninterrupted long walk, workouts yoga, any thing you woul like todo in a clean and serene natural spot.

I had a lovely new year celebrating in janus paradise rest. Janus was a great host, the location fab. I didn't venture away from the hotel for my 4 days. The rooms were comfortable, the prices fair, staff pleasant and food nice. I shared some good company and fab sunsets. Which was pretty much what I was looking for. The pool was pleasant in the Sri lankan heat. The ocean in Bentota is rough, not easy for casual swimming, but refreshing, and the beach clean and quiet. Thanks Janus

Great room with a nice balcony with river view, good airco, nice shower, good bed. Friendly owner who offers a free transport to the other side of the lake, where you have access to the beautiful Ventura beach. This beach is easily one of the best beaches we have seen in Sri Lanka: unspoiled, tranquil, very nice zand, cute waves... just incredible! Make sure you get there to enjoy this still widely unknown hidden gem.

Buffet breakfast and dinner was excellent with a variety of Western and Sri Lankan cuisine. Service was commendable. Staff were very polite, obliging and helpful. Good location with beach access and a relaxed atmosphere. The suite we occupied was spacious with comfortable furniture and facilities. The room was large with a large comfortable bed. Clean and well maintained hotel with a large pool.

Lovely family run place, 20 mins from beach, very quiet area, 3 beds in room I was solo but great for family or friends. Shower and toilet and small kitchen next to room, which I had sole use. Dinner breakfast and lunch available cost about 400-500 Sri Lankan rupees. Big portions always come with fruits, eg, papaya, bananas, etc Definitely stay here again. Bentota beach is very beautiful 😍

Host family very kind & ready to accommodate any requests and give any suggestions / recommendations you may need. Incredibly tasty sri lankan meals, fresh fish prepared by the lovely mother & her daughters always tasted very good! Very convenient location - not in the busy centre of Aluthgama & wonderful approx 15 min walk through the jungle to the beach and Bentota train stn.
