Thambu Illam is a lovely, atmospheric colonial villa in a quiet area of Jaffna. Our double room was simple, but comfortable and there were plenty of areas outside the room - verandahs, garden, interior patio - to sit and relax. Even though the guesthouse doesn't have its own kitchen, the food we ordered through the guesthouse and which the staff served in an open pavillion by the swimming pool was delicious and authentically Sri Lankan. We'd also like to highlight the wonderful treatment we received from the helpful and attentive staff. Among other things, they arranged several tuk tuk rides for us with the incredible Prasath, as well as onward transport.

This place is so amazing, spacious, clean and quiet, close to Jaffna airport. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, I felt right at home. Special mention to Dillakshi, Prasanna, Prinsen, Dineshan, Saranya who helped us with what dishes to try, what places to see etc. The Manager Rushan was equally helpful and offered to help us book another stay on our return to Jaffna from Trincomalee. And the food was delicious! Thank you Thinnai for a thoroughly enjoyable stay, we are certainly coming back! :-)

The villa offers a personal butler and a personal chef for your stay. You can wish for any food you like and they will make everything from scratch for you. There is also a private swimming pool and backyard. The whole accommodation is five star european standard clean! Janakan, Mehkala and Ramesh took great care of us, we felt better than at home. Location is good. Room is very clean .my room cleaning boy (nishanth) is doing his jobb very will. Breakfast is very very good. Restaurant employees are caring us when we entered to the restaurant.
