Someone on here described this place as a piece of heaven and that pretty much sums it up (and I'm not a religious man). I ended up extending my reservation for an extra night as I couldn't miss the chance to stay another day. I requested the room furthest down the hill and, yes, there are stairs to get down there (not that many really), but how else would one expect to get down a hill? 🧐 This also meant the cabin felt secluded and the view had an uninterrupted jungle-y vibe. Both mornings I sat on my balcony as a baby monkey scrambled and launched wildly towards birds high in the treetops - its family just lounged unbothered as the sun peered over the smokey mountains - no helicopter parenting in the monkey world! The pool is stunning (rooms up here would have a similarly stunning view). I swam each morning and again in the afternoon upon my return after a day of exploring Kandy. Don't let the distance to central Kandy throw you off - Tuk Tuks are super fun and there's so much on the journey to stimulate the senses (dodging bigass cattle and the like) and you won't be needing to back-and-forth to town regardless. Staff were super kind and accomodating and the curry for dinner and egg hoppers for brekkie were the real deal. How's the rest of my trip going to match this? Would stay again no question.

What a lovely stay we had. The room was modern, clean and comfortable. Beautiful views. We had a dip in the pool in the evening and dinner on the balcony to top it off. Vijitha went out of his way to help us arrange our tickets for the train from Kandy to Ella, and drop us off at the train station. The location is perfect to get to Peradeniya Station (the stop before Kandy).

The hotel is situated in an amazing and quiet location a bit outside of busy Kandy. It has a lovely well groomed garden and a big swimming pool. The room was very comfortable (mini fridge), clean and large (was upgraded ) offering amazing views from both terraces for sunrise and sunset - absolutely stunning and very relaxing to do yoga or other . The breakfast and dinner was very good offering a variety of Sri Lankan and Western dishes. Many thanks to the very kind and attentive staff for making my stay so wonderful !!! Highly recommended and will definitely come again.

This was probably my favorite place in all of Sri Lanka (and we we're in Sri Lanka for over 3 weeks). The rooms were absolutely beautiful and the views were stunning & priceless. They had a gorgeous Infinity pool that overlooked the mountains. The staff were amazingly kind and helpful. There were only a couple of drawbacks. First it is very difficult to get from this property to Kandy. Cars and tuk tuks are very expensive and it is at least a 45 minute ride. Second, the infinity pool does not have any coverings and sits directly in the hot sun. They do have some small umbrellas you can use, but for most people it is simply too hot to enjoy the beautiful pool and views during the day. It's surprising as I don't think it would take too much to create a partial covering for the area. I must reiterate, however, that the property overall and the views are absolutely amazing. The food was also well prepared and well priced. If you stay here, I would highly recommend planning at least one day on the resort. You will be blown away by how beautiful and luxurious it is for the price!

This is a beautiful hotel with an amazing view and tastefully furnished rooms. The staff is very friendly and thoughtful and our room has been spotless. We've stayed for a week so far and have been served a tasty variety of breakfasts. Highly recommend this place and the peaceful environment.

Our family with 3kids had a lovely and unforgettable experience at Hanthana. We are very happy the way Mrs. Melanie, Mr.Nandana , chef George, Samantha, Mihiranga treated as with the best service. The overall ambience of the property is amazing that we could experience the best sunrise, green environment with lots of plants , the waterfall with a natural pool inside the property. Rooms were spacious to accommodate a big family like ours. ‘Scout’ safari to mountains were also a nice experience. All in total we will give 10/10 for this lovely property. Eagerly waiting for our next trip to this abode soon… L

What an amazing place! Everything was superb. From the incredible staff who anticipated my every need, to the delicious food and the variety of activities in the area. After having left noisy Kandy and traffic behind, this place was a haven of peace. The lack of noise was what hit me first. Staff were helpful and welcoming. The views were stunning. Hanthana mountain is in front at the other side of a deep valley and the Knuckles Range to the right. Crickets were chirping when I went to sleep, and I woke up to a chorus of birds. All in all, I came back in a better mindset that I went in with.
