This was by far the best hotel we stayed at on our trip. The “King’s Residence” room was unbelievable. Definitely recommend this room if you can get it. The food was great as was the ice tea we were given on arrival. Best ice tea in Sri Lanka. The service we received was very high quality. The Galle Fort in Galle is my absolute favorite place — it has a vibe of its own. It’s completely safe at any time of the day, even for solo travelers. There’s so much history within the Fort walls to learn about and beautiful architecture to explore. The hosts at the restaurants and hotels inside the Fort are amazing, and the service is truly of international standard. The view of the Indian Ocean from the Ramparts is simply breathtaking. There are plenty of restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines and dishes to try. Outside the Fort, I highly recommend visiting the beaches at Unawatuna, just a few kilometers from Galle City Centre. While you’re there, don’t miss the Japanese Peace Pagoda at Rumassala — you won’t regret it! Yaddehimulla Road in Unawatuna has everything from surf schools and restaurants to gem shops, gelato spots, international cuisines, and everything in between. For quick bites and essentials, SPAR Supermarket at Galle City Centre is your go-to place. You’ll find tasty rice and curry meals, ready-to-eat options, mosquito repellent, basic medical supplies, snacks, good-quality fruits, and other everyday necessities.

quaint and charming place, with a relaxed pace of life -- besides the Galle fort, peace tower, handloom factory, silk showroom, and spice garden, there lots of good places nearby with treks and forest trails-- mahamura, sinharaja, yala, ,kanneliya-- boon for nature lovers ! watch out for the leeches though !

If you're going to Galle, stay inside the Fort. Lots of charming little villas and boutique hotels where you can drop your bags and go walkabout, soaking in the colonial charm and enjoying the relaxed vibe. Great food options, live music and incredible sunsets.

The vibe that Galle fort shares during anytime of the day is marvelous. It is a super child friendly place with amazing shops and places at every corner. It has the ambience of a unique blend between antiquity and modernity filled with aesthetic taste of rich culture and art. Seems its potential is still untapped fully. Loved the eateries and little cafes designed with elegance and charm. It showcases the serenity of a typical European port city with Dutch colonial architecture.

We originally had one full day planned at Galle but we ended...

We originally had one full day planned at Galle but we ended up being there for longer. We didn't need to be there any longer than one day. The walk around the Fort was lovely but there were not really many good shops to see and it was a little touristy in the Fort. Unfortunately they still let cars and motorbikes and Tuk Tuks in the street of the Fort which was difficult to navigate. Not really much to do in Galle except for the Fort.

This is an exceptional place to stay - we could not recommend it more highly. Beautiful jungle location teaming with birds and wildlife, gorgeous tasteful rooms, convenient location near Galle Fort and all the nearby beaches. Best of all were the staff. Anitha ran the most seamless operation and is a world class masseuse - make sure to try one of her treatments. Hashani’s food was the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka by far. Perera went out of his way to make us feel welcome and keep the place spotless.

Abha villa is nestled in a beautiful village close to the lovely Galle beach area. Just a short walk down to the main road and there you are. The family restaurant nearby was cheap and absolutely delicious. Huge portions and lovely staff. Also.. The pool was fabulous and we had the best Sri Lankan breakfasts at Abha Villa. Definitely a special cultural stay. Would highly recommend this place for those wishing for an authentic experience. The family were delightful.

The hotel itself is a restored historic building with beautiful architecture, the staff was so welcoming and helpful and met all our expectations and requests. The quality of the food was 5 star standard, from snacks, breakfast and dinner there was no complaints at all. Would definitely recommend considering the value for money, traditional breakfast included in the price was probably one of the best I had during my stay in Sri Lanka.
