The location is very close to the National Park. It is only about 8 minutes by Tuk-Tuk which they kindly organised for both our safaris. Leopard Inn arranged our tour of Wilpattu National Park at a reasonable price and our onward transport. Prathap could not have been more attentive even giving us cushions for our comfort on our safari. Everything was clean, comfortable and worked as it should. The accommodations that we chose were self contained cabins beside a river. Opposite there is some building work at the moment but it did not disturb our peace. We had a take away breakfast which was adequate. The pools are tiny plunge pools and very refreshing after a day's safari

This is quite simply an exceptional hotel, made so not only by our beautiful room and the surroundings, but by Mark and the team of people who made our stay so special. This is one we will always remember for being unique and idylic. Our kayak on the lake with Ravi was fantastic and Ravi's knowledge about the wildlife was exceptional. The whole team were there at 4.30am to ensure we had everything we could possibly ask for before our early morning safari. I can not praise our stay highly enough and we would have loved to have stayed for longer. Thank you Mark and everyone who made our stay so very perfect.

Unique and special hotel in the middle of Wilpattu national park. You sleep literally surrounded by the sounds of nature. Staff was helpful and really attentive to our needs. On a bottom line note, you must be sure that you want to live an adventurous and immersive natural experience.

Beautiful place, close to the entrance of Wilpattu National Park. You are surrounded by nature and birds. The accommodation is new and spotless! Very good beds and the host is super friendly! Highly recommend this place!

The food and service at The Backwater's Lodge was exceptional and even though we missed our flight connection they rearranged everything without any issue. I recommend a swim in the river after a day safari!

Fantastic place to stay for so many reasons. The hotel itself feels really like a safari camp with wild animals and birds all around, there are monkeys and squirrels in the gardens. Each room is very private down a small path from the main dining room. The rooms are absolutely huge and wonderfully decorated. They have a large comfortable more-than-double bed and are well equipped with a fridge, air-conditioning and ceiling fan, hot and cold shower, tea and coffee making facilities, towels and robe. The room had huge windows overlooking the forest and its own private terrace and plunge pool perfect for cooling off after a long day. We had a sri lankan style breakfast which was delicious and we ate 2 nights at the hotel. I would highly recommend the seafood bbq, so much yummy food! The hotel is situated perfectly for safari as it is right next to the entrance to the national park so only 2 minutes in the tuktuk to get to the entrance. They packed us breakfast, lunch and snacks. Priyashantha joined us for the day and was fantastic at taking us to the best places to spot the wildlife. He brought along binoculars and books to show us the birds and animals we had seen. The jeep itself has a roof to keep cool in the heat of the day on the full day safari. I would highly recommend the friendly and caring staff, the beautiful peaceful surroundings and the very comfortable rooms.

Very good stay for a trip to Wilpattu National Park as Safari Tours are offered and you can enter the park fron the Western Entrance. I made a half day safari and saw leopard and elefants and many more animals. Don´t miss out to go to the beautiful lake just 10 minutes away and to the rice fields - it´s beautiful there! The staff ist very friendly and helpful and the food is good. So overall a perfect stay for Wilpattu!

Our stay at Wilpattu Nature Resort was unforgettable! The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, offering a peaceful escape right next to nature. We enjoyed delicious home-cooked meals, especially the breakfast and dinner, which were full of local flavors. The highlight of our stay was the kayaking, lagoon safari, and camping experiences. Being so close to Wilpattu National Park, we also joined a thrilling safari and spotted incredible wildlife. The resort even has its own island and two camping sites, perfect for adventure lovers. The peaceful riverside setting, friendly staff, and unique activities like fishing, cycling, and boat tours make this place truly special. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway near nature with a mix of comfort and adventure, Wilpattu Nature Resort is the perfect choice!
