We were lucky to get an authentic insight into the real Sri Lanka and the local culture. Our host Prashan was incredibly warm and welcoming – we can highly recommend this accommodation! The accommodation: The room was clean, well-furnished, and equipped with a fan and mosquito net. The small private pool was a real highlight – and all of this at a very fair price. The food: The food was delicious, freshly prepared, and full of flavor. There was a huge variety, and always more than enough. The host: Prashan speaks perfect English, which made communication very easy. He is extremely friendly, helpful, and always there to support with advice and assistance. He really caters to the wishes and needs of his guests, and shares fascinating insights into nature, culture, and everyday life in Sri Lanka. His hospitality is truly impressive. The activities: We went on a TukTuk tour together and visited a breathtaking waterfall, went on a beautiful mountain hike with spectacular views, explored a riverbed, and watched giant bats in the evening. It was a one-of-a-kind experience that we’ll never forget! We felt safe and well taken care of at all times, as Prashan accompanied us throughout and made us feel completely at ease.

Probably the best place I’ve experienced in Sri Lanka . Modern and yet with a traditional feel like no other. It’s wooden structure and design was such that it was a joy to behold ,enhanced by the gracious host for which nothing was too much trouble.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The views have to be experienced in person. Lovely staff that goes above and beyond to meet your needs. They arranged a cooking class for us during our stay which was lovely. Will definitely come back in the future.

Lovely serene grounds with some very new individuals villas - some with a pool and some without. Super clean, nice staff and great location if you drive your own Tuktuk or are happy to book one for transport to Pinnawala (10 mins drive away).

What an amazing place! Everything was superb. From the incredible staff who anticipated my every need, to the delicious food and the variety of activities in the area. I was truly surprised by how wonderful the place was. The property is not only perfect for those who appreciate comfort, but also for those looking to explore the nearby cultural sights. The team at the house went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgettable! The attention to detail and warm hospitality truly made our experience exceptional. I had a truly wonderful experience, and I’m especially grateful for the amazing service and support from my guide, Andrew. He’s honestly the hero of this place! From the moment I arrived, he made everything smooth and easy — he met me at the railway station, drove me to the hotel, helped with check-in, and explained the program ahead. The next day, he greeted me after breakfast and invited me to watch traditional local wedding dances — such a unique moment! He then took me to the herbal garden, the elephant orphanage, and the zoo, let me try some local street food, and shared so many interesting stories about Sri Lankan culture and traditions. It was my first time visiting Sri Lanka, and I came alone — so having such a kind and knowledgeable guide made all the difference. Thanks to Andrew, my trip was not just safe and easy, but truly bright and joyful. I also really enjoyed my hotel stay — the river view from the room was beautiful, watching elephants from the pool felt surreal, and the whole atmosphere was incredibly relaxing. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Sri Lanka!

My stay at this hotel was superb. The location offered stunning views and a peaceful ambiance. The staff were welcoming, and check-in was seamless. The room was spacious and clean. Amazing location on the street where elephants traverse to bathe and you have access to this property from a side street even when the main street is closed till 4pm. Staff was pleasant and uograded me to a private room when the dorms were overbooked. Great views for evening bat migration very pleasant stay overall.

The town is just a town with shops, supermarket etc. For food, my tour guide Prashan brought me to Upcountry Restaurant which is a nice place with a beautiful scenery. :) Go for the attractions like Bible Rock, Saradiel Hill etc. They are nice.
