We were absolutely blown away by this hotel! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, they really took care of every guest. But what really impressed us was the food - it was outstanding! This was exactly what I needed to rest and relax at the end of my trip. Super clean, minimalistic, the breakfast was just outstanding, especially the Sri Lankan. The freshest and tastiest Sri Lankan food I had in this place! Thank you! There is a huge construction site next door. I am super sensitive to sounds but the rooms truly are sound proof, I almost could not hear anything. So it is not really a minus, just an observation.

The beach is attractive with palm trees and beach bars, however it is very narrow and at high tide there is very little sand available for relaxing. The waves are quite ferocious at times even though the weather was calm and only the strongest and most confident swimmers were able to swim past the breakers and surf, also beware of the jet ski which operates from the area where you access the beach from the hotel, this was an additional menace.

My favorite spot was definitely the beachfront area right in front of Paradise Beach Club – calm waves, golden sand, and perfect sunsets. I also loved Coconut Hill, just a short walk away, with its panoramic view of the ocean and palm trees. Where I Ate- Most of my meals were at the Paradise Beach Club restaurant, which offered delicious Sri Lankan curries, fresh seafood, and good international choices. For variety, Mirissa has some great little cafés and beach shacks nearby – I especially liked the fresh juices and seafood BBQs along the beach. Mum's Kitchen, Big Belly & All you can eat were equally good. Mirissa is very easy to get around. Most places are within walking distance if you’re staying near the beach. For slightly farther spots like Weligama or Galle, tuk-tuks are everywhere and quite affordable. we booked our car for the entire trip. things to do- Whale watching tours Sunset at Coconut Hill Beach hopping Surfing

Mirissa is a popular tourist destination, and one where...

Mirissa is a popular tourist destination, and one where tourism income trumps everything else - usually at the expense of the environment. So, if you’re looking for an idyllic escape to a pristine, tropical paradise, you’ll need to lower your expectations quite a bit. Unfortunately, the businesses lining the beachfront have been allowed to attempt to artificially hold back the sea, by building awful sea walls, sandbagging, etc. This has resulted in far less beach than there would naturally be. The other inescapable truth is that it’s quite polluted - mainly with discarded plastics (bottles, drinking straws, bags, etc.) and other rubbish. It really is heartbreaking to see, and it’s everywhere. Picking up a few bags of it everyday on my walks didn’t even make a dent! (This problem isn’t limited to Mirissa, by the way. It’s everywhere in Sri Lanka. Substantial regulatory change and investment in education are needed - now!) As a visitor, do your part and at least set a good example by not discarding your rubbish. On the plus side, the people are very friendly and welcoming, and there are quite a few great places to eat and enjoy a cold drink. I found the better restaurants on the main road rather than the beach. There are also plenty of lovely, small, family-run restaurants throughout the back streets that are worth seeking out.

I spent one night at a Coastal Villa in Mirissa, and it was...

I spent one night at a Coastal Villa in Mirissa, and it was one of my best experiences in Sri Lanka. The villa is situated in a calm and quiet area, yet it is within walking distance to both the town and the beach. The rooms are spacious, and the beds were clean and comfortable. The air conditioner functioned well during the extremely hot weather, and the staff were very helpful. Initially, we did not book the room with a meal included, but the staff were accommodating and provided a variety of delicious Sri Lankan dishes on short notice. I decided to extend my stay, and the villa staff easily fulfilled my request. I recommend Coastal Villa to anyone seeking a place to stay in Mirissa.

Mirissa was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Beautiful beaches, amazing sunsets, and a laid-back vibe but also plenty to explore, like whale watching and surfing. A great place to slow down and enjoy Sri Lanka’s south coast.

Beautiful, beach town with lots of restaraunts and spa,s and many beaches to choose from, my favourites being; Mirissa Beach, Coconut tree hill beach, kurumba beach. Kurumba Beach club is great for clean, tasty food.

We loved this corner of Mirissa - it felt like a little town and the calm road by the apartment had great restaurants, shops and spas. The beach and hotel area, that is across the street was great! Really nice pool, amazing restaurant with a mix of Sri Lankan and international dishes. And just a really next level beautiful view of the bay. Perfectly situated away from the big restaurants. The service by the pool and restaurant was lovely and the waiters were very attentive.

The rooms were extremely clean and tidy and were a great size. The staff are excellent and an extremely attentive. The hotel is located within a 10 minute walk to secret and Mirissa beach. The rooftop pool is an amazing place to chill out in the afternoon and watch the sunset in the evening.

This hotel was tucked away from the busy area but still close to the beach and Mirissa. The gardens and pool are amazing. Staff were so welcoming and it felt like a haven to rest after a busy few weeks of travelling. The spa next door is beautiful and reasonably priced.

We stayed here for 3 nights. It is a simple hotel in the main road of Mirissa, very close to beach. The breakfast is so good with coffee/tea, fruit, omelet, sweet pancake… made fresh by the host Ratna - he was so nice and welcoming, making our experience unforgettable!
