We were there 4 nights during off season. There is not much to do there in July. Especially with kids. Since the sea was to rough to swim in! Lots of wind and felt a bit like a ghost town to us. Weligama is an absolute gem for travelers! Whether you're chasing waves or simply looking for a peaceful escape, this place has it all. The beach is fantastic for surfing, with great waves for both beginners and pros, while also offering calm spots perfect for relaxation. The sunrises and sunsets here are truly breathtaking, making every moment by the ocean magical. The town itself is warm and welcoming, with friendly locals, great food, and a laid-back vibe. The only minor downside is the occasional plastic waste, but with more awareness and local efforts, this paradise can be even better. Everyone in the staff (apparently a family) were really friendly and helpful. The room was clean and exactly like in the pictures. We also liked the Sri Lankan breakfast they offered in the mornings. For us the location was perfect - little bit out of the city centre (around 3km) so it was quiet place. Definitely would recommend to rent a scooter so it’s easy to move around.
