Historically and culturally rich Kaunas is surrounded by lush forests and waterways. It is home to an array of churches, museums and a charming Old Town consisting of diverse architecture and locally famous landmarks.
Running through the heart of Kaunas, Nemunas River is the vein that pumps through Lithuania and connects the country to neighbouring Belarus. It has several bridges which link the centre of Kaunas to townships such as Aleksotas, Karmėlava and Prienai.
Kaunas has many cultural and heritage buildings such as the Pažaislis Monastery and House of Perkūnas. The delightful Old Town Hall and Square is on the riverbank of the city's historic centre where you can find Kaunas Castle, Kaunas Cathedral Basilica and Napoleon's Hill along with Kaunas City Museum amongst numerous landmarks.

We liked the Botanical garden very much. One can spend a full day there. Spacious and very relaxing. Great choice of flowers. I had a lovely stay in Kaunas, right in the heart of the Old Town. The location was perfect—everything was within walking distance, including shops, cafés, and beautiful historical sites. Being so close to the Devi Indian Restaurant was a huge bonus—great food just steps away! The accommodation itself was clean, comfortable, and quiet at night, despite being in a lively area.
