The hospitality and the gorgeous setting were my two favorite aspects of the Riad Jnane Imlil and the village of Imlil. The surroundings are majestic and the staff of the riad were so very warm. The food was delicious and convenient (breakfast was included, and you can purchase dinner and eat in the building). I was not feeling well from before I arrived in Imlil, and still it was a beautiful place to rest in. We had planned to do a full-day trek and have lunch with a Berber family in their home, but had to cancel due to my illness. Still, we walked around a bit in the village and that was so very pleasant. The riad had a pool and has beautiful terraces and balconies to enjoy the gorgeous views from. If you like climbing heights, and are prepared to be challenged then this is a fabulous place to do just that. Imlil is idyllic with breathtaking views immersed in the Atlas Mountains. Lots of wonderful hikes, rivers, hotels set in the mountains, beautiful little town with restaurants, gift shops & lots of Moroccan culture. Just over an hour from Marrakesh. I had a wonderful time in Git Mazzik. It was a truly traditional journey filled with authentic experiences and delicious local food, they cooked it for you on demand! The hospitality was incredibly warm; you honestly feel like you're with family. Our overnight stay here was the highlight of our trip to Morocco! It’s truly a unique and beautiful experience. The location and views by themselves are breathtaking but Lahcen and his family go above and beyond with their kindness and generous hospitality to make everything about the stay one you’ll never forget. All the food was exceptional, and it was no problem us both being vegan. We had a very fun cooking lesson with the family in the evening, including being surprised with a couple of beautiful traditional Berber outfits. The next morning, after a breakfast watching the sunrise we were given directions for a pretty walk through the village and orchards to the waterfall before being met back in Imlil with our luggage for the taxi back. If you want an amazing trip to Morocco then staying at the Authentic Toubkal Lodge is a must. There are also a couple of very cute cats! Hotel is difficult to get to as its up the hill with limited transport so you feel stranded, taxi costs 100d (3 minutes from Imlil to Tamatert + walk to hotel) where taxi from Marrakech to Imlil is 50d (1.5hrs). Host lady was lovely but poor management, the shower was freezing so we used another room which was awkward and still cold. The location is a bit of a walk from Imlil center, but the views of the villages and mountains are absolutely worth it. The place has several common areas, including majlis and terraces with great views. They also helped me plan my hike in Toubkal National Park. From the terrace you have a wonderful view on the Toubkal mountain range and the river valley and lower parts of the Armed village below. We received a very warm welcome by Rachid and his father, and the tajine we had for dinner was the best during our whole trip in Morocco!
