We enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Xara Palace. Great location in an authentic luxurious building, decorated with respect its history. The room was impeccable and provided great comfort with outstanding beds. The breakfast was exquisite, being served in the restaurant overlooking the great landscape. We had dinner at the Medina restaurant, affiliated to the hotel and situated in the center of Medina. A great spot with excellent Maltese food. All staff were great, but special thanks to Matthias from front desk who has been really authentic in making our stay such a great memory.

Howard House Hotel is not just a place to stay; it is an experience that transports you through time. As someone with a deep love for history, I chose this boutique hotel because of its beautifully preserved heritage, and it did not disappoint. Every corner of the building speaks of its past, from the original "garigor" staircase to the intricate details that have been carefully restored. The atmosphere is steeped in character, yet nothing feels outdated—there is a seamless blend of past and present, where modern comforts enhance rather than overshadow the building’s soul. I felt as though I was living in history, not merely observing it, and that is what made my stay truly special. Comfort is never compromised in this historic setting. While I have stayed in old properties before, they often come with practical challenges, but Howard House Hotel is designed with every convenience in mind. The spacious lift was a wonderful surprise, making access to all levels effortless, allowing me to enjoy every part of the hotel without a second thought. My room was luxurious yet understated, offering everything one would expect from a five-star hotel, from plush bedding to thoughtful touches like a fully stocked mini-bar and a coffee machine. The blend of historic charm with modern luxury is what sets this place apart—nothing felt overly polished or sterile, yet everything was elegant and immaculately kept. The highlight of my stay, however, was the time I spent on the upper terrace, where I lost myself in the spectacular 360-degree views. I watched the sunset from this perfect vantage point, completely mesmerised by the changing colours of the sky and the timeless beauty of the city beyond. It was a moment of peace and reflection, where I could take in the landscape as so many before me must have done over the last century and a half. This is a hotel that doesn’t just offer comfort—it offers a deep sense of place, of continuity, and of connection to the past.

I had a great 5-night stay at the Antoniel Suites in November. The hotel itself is modern, well-maintained, and has a nice design and good furniture. With only four rooms per floor, it feels cozy and private. My room, 904 on the 9th floor, had a lovely big balcony with a table, 2 chairs and a nice city view. The warm, sunny weather (around 20–22 degrees) made it comfortable to stay in the room without needing air conditioning. The housekeeping was impeccable, with daily cleaning and fresh towels. The room was cosy, and the comfortable mattress and pillows, along with good soundproofing, made for restful nights. While the central location occasionally meant some outside noise when the window or balcony door were open, the room was perfectly quiet once they were closed. It was good to have an electric kettle, cups, glasses, plates, cutlery, a small refrigerator, a safe and a hair dryer in the room. On request, I was also provided with an ironing board, iron, and adapter to use during my stay. There were also several USB outputs over each night table making the charging of devices easy. The staff were polite, helpful, and kind. I was contacted beforehand for my flight details and the late check-in arrangements. Special thanks to Julie for her exceptional hospitality! Though the hotel doesn’t serve breakfast, this wasn’t an issue for me as I’m not an early riser and there was a great choice of cafes, pastry kiosks, grocery stores and supermarkets close to the hotel.

Such a beautiful city with amazing buildings within the medieval old capitol. It's busy with tourists during the day and would highly recommend returning in the evening when it's so eerily quiet, but amazing. We ate in a rooftop restaurant, The Knights Kitchen so we could see the amazing sunset over Mdina. There are horse and carts to take you around, but we walked and enjoyed the tiny alleyways. Stunning city

A delightful small, quiet city....it was nice to stay within...

A delightful small, quiet city....it was nice to stay within the walls of the city for the nighttime experience. It became the silent city. not a lot to see, but what is there was interesting. Rabat is literally a short walk across a pedestrian friendly bridge with lots of activity. Certainly Mdina is worth a visit.

Madima is a 16th-century fortress city, and they've done their best to preserve it as it was. It's very well maintained and very clean. My recommendation is to rent a car and explore the island; everything is about a 20-minute drive away.

A very pretty medieval town. Interesting sights. Note that for stays longer than two days, renting a car or taking a taxi is essential to get to Valletta and other sites on the island. Public transport is inconvenient.

A superb and well-preserved ensemble (Mdina + Rabat) not to be missed (a priority if you are only visiting Malta for 3/4 days) and the bus terminal allows you to easily travel to different sites on the island of Malta.

Howard House Hotel is truly a gem. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and filled with thoughtful details that make the stay feel special. The shower is a great size, the towels smell amazing, and breakfast is fresh, well prepared, and well organised. Every part of the hotel is beautifully maintained. The staff are warm and welcoming, and Marciella deserves a special mention for her fairness and professionalism. Overall, Howard House Hotel is hard to fault and a place I would highly recommend. We love the lollies.

The hotel was very beautiful with a unique charm and a lot of attention to detail and very clean. The amenities like floor heating and decorations are superb. Breakfast was included and very tasty. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The owner even helped us with booking very nice restaurants and gave us a lot of recommendations. The location is superb as it is in the middle of the old town. We would definitely recommend this restaurant especially for a romantic getaway.

The whole property is beautiful. I had the top floor room with a large private terrace and easy access to the communal terrace overlooking Mdina. The room was stunning with a big comfy bed and a bright light filled bathroom. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast was very good. Right between Mdina and Rabat so can enjoy both easily and all the buses stop just outside for good access to rest of island (and airport/ferry to Gozo)
