Beautiful lake but nothing to do there.

Beautiful lake but nothing to do there. We went at the end of May and everything was closed. Super rural town. Nowhere to eat. Nobody could tell us when their busy season is supposed to start (my husband speaks Spanish which did not help). Locals literally did not know when is the best time to visit there to have everything open and available so maybe it's on the decline? No kayak rental; no horseback riding. Lake is not for swimming and doesn't have a beach. 2 small stores were open but had only chips, snacks and pop.
