I would definitely recommend this wonderful homestay in Mulu! It was a warm welcome from James, who grew up in this remote place. Authentic doesn't get any more authentic, I think. He explained to us all the things you can do and what to bring for a perfect experience. With Brenda we had a wonderful tour of the large caves and she gives us all the information about the animals we saw along the way. In the evening they showed us a documentary on a big screen about the history of Mulu and the struggle between the locals and the palm oil industry. It was very interesting! The location was second to none! It was fantastic to be able to walk out the front door and be a five minute walk from a rainforest. Such a treat. I liked that all the staff who worked there are from the local community and they were always extremely friendly and hospitable.

This is a very clean and comfortable guesthouse that is super close to the park entrance. The food and drinks are cheap and tasty. The owners are very kind and helpful. There are lots of fans and places to dry clothing, which is a necessity in Mulu. I'd be very surprised if there is a better spot in Mulu at this price point!! Definitely recommend!

This review is based on the situations in a remote place like Mulu. The stay was good. It's about 1-1.5 km from Mulu national park and airport, so it's in walkable location. The host Helena and Shania was supportive. The room had 3 single beds. Initially I thought it would be a dormitory type of stay. But they have multiple rooms. It is a budget homestay. They prepare dinner and lunch is you ask for. Prices are at par with Mulu park restaurant.
