In stone lodges on the edge of the Etendeka Plateau, rooms at Grootberg Lodge offer far-reaching views. With an outdoor pool, it is run by an organisation that aims to improve local welfare.

Simply amazing. And the best about it is that the entire project is owned by the local community. We fully recommend you allow yourself a stay. You don’t regret it!

We spent a blissful 3 nights at Etendeka Mountain Camp. The camps location is stunning , the tented rooming perfect . Watching the sun rise from the comfort of a cosy bed through our open tent entrance was amazing. The bucket shower , taken under a star filled sky , most memorable. The staff at Etendeka Mountain Camp were so friendly. The food yummy . The star gazing evening was most informative as were the local hikes guided by Glacius that we enjoyed during our stay at the camp . In addition it was lovely chatting informatively with other guests during the evenings.

Visiting Damaraland is something I have wanted to do for years. We stayed for 3 nights but would have been happy to stay for longer. The scenery was beautiful - would love to see it after rain as well. The wildlife was not as prolific as in other African destinations but was interesting all the same.
