Lovely place, the staff very friendly, hotel very accommodating. We also had meals which were very tasty. Breakfast was too. Nice setting and close to the centre. Quiet.

The breakfast was exceptional. Continental style with a remarkably varied choice of bread/sweetbreads, boiled egg, yogurt, cheese, etc. The hotel has a very good cafe/restaurant on the ground floor where we enjoyed a late dinner and lunch the next day. Our family had two rooms which were both spacious, very comfortable, and looked recently renovated.

What an amazing, unique, superspecial place to stay... We absolutely loved staying at the Trechter!!! This is such an extraordinary experience, and pure luxury. The interior design is stunningly beautiful, homely and super clean. The cherry on the top are both the jacuzzi as well as the panoramic view of the sea... truly breathtaking. The welcome was so warm and inviting, and we simply enjoyed every moment we could spend there. Our stay was my special birthday gift to myself, and I felt like a diva... 😀 And you get your brekkie delivered to the entry hall, what a treat. Will come back for some more celebration of life & watching the sun set behind the sea...

    We enjoyed and appreciated the Planetarium, Martena Museum...

    We enjoyed and appreciated the Planetarium, Martena Museum and the Stadhuis, with guide which made it much more interesting. Franeker is a pretty ,small town. The museums are very good and they make it an interesting place to visit. The people we met were, without exception, very friendly.

    Quaint and charming little town, we stayed for one night but...

    Quaint and charming little town, we stayed for one night but actually we didn’t need to. We saw everything we wanted to in one day (on foot) and had dinner there. The nature is peaceful and beautiful and the Fries people living there are all very friendly. The planetarium was cool and the Museum Martena was really cool bcs we it was a little bit interactive.

    It's a charming small town with a rich history which remains...

    It's a charming small town with a rich history which remains mostly intact. We went for the Eise Eisinga Planetarium which was absolutely worth the trip. We also highly recommend the city museum, Museum Martena, a 'city castle' from 1506 which also has a nice garden, especially in the spring. I would have liked to visit the grand city hall as well, but it was closed that day.

    The location is perfectly situated next to the city's shopping district, making it the ideal place to be for a car free holiday. The apartment itself is beautifully decorated and well maintained, creating a lively atmosphere compared to the minimalistic or stale feeling you get from a basic hotel room. Add to this that the host is kind and approachable, and it becomes hard not to rate it a perfect score. I'll definitely be visiting again.

    The house is very cosy and furnished and decorated very tastefully. The location ist very convenient, central yet quiet. Permanent free parking is about 300m by foot in a section of the Albert Heijn parking lot. The contact with our hostess was attentive and friendly. (Thanks for the wine!) Franeker is a nice little town. Visit the planetarium, try the Fish and Chips place and enjoy the seaview from the dike at De Waadfisker!

    Tjarda was a great hostess and super helpful. We loved the Fries vibe and the BnB was amazing. We travel quite a bit- but this was one of the best. Close to bnb is a lovely restaurant. Very reasonable and super staff Albert Heijn supermarket close. Franeker is duch a sweet and still ‘functional’ town- not a tourist trap. Loved this visit! Thanks
