Harderwijk was surprising.
Harderwijk was surprising. I hadn't visited the city for decades so I was pleasantly surprised of the transformation of the small lakeside town. The waterside is absolutely gorgeous and a perfect place to enjoy the sunset. The food choices are plentiful and there are enough terraces to chose from. If you like water, take a guided tour through the canals and lake, like the one from the windmill. We visited in september and the city was still lively partly because of the wonderful weather. We stayed at the ground floor apartment which gives us direct access to a cute and semi private city garden. Although modern the apartment incorporates elements from the location and its history which we thought is a very nice touch. I keep coming back because of the very friendly owners, excellent breakfast clean and good rooms. They have tree rooms and I have now tried them all. Newly renovated, very clean and with everything you need. Perfect host and there where also 2 small bottles of wine, beer, soft drinks, cheese and nuts provided.
