It used to be one of the three richest villages in Friesland...

It used to be one of the three richest villages in Friesland (Baltic Sea trade), and the village reflects this: it's full of beautiful houses. That alone is a bonus, plus there's a lovely bakery museum and a beautiful church. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the beauty.

An old village with a long history.

An old village with a long history. Wikipedia Walking route with information boards. Peace and quiet, beautiful flowering gardens, winding streets paved with Frisian yellow bricks. Away from the hustle and bustle. Experience the countryside.

It was for a family visit.

It was for a family visit. The bakery shop is open to the public. It tells the history of Molkwerum, and the shop (dating back to 1930) sells Molkwarder Koeke (molkwarder cookies) and old-fashioned sweets. There's a terrace, and coffee, tea, and soft drinks are served with a piece of cake. There's a train station. For the nearest restaurants, you'll have to go to Stavoren, Hindeloopen, or Workum.

It's a very small village, but it has its charm.

It's a very small village, but it has its charm. You'll need to do all your deliveries outside of the village, as there might only be one supermarket on the campsite (I didn't see one). There's a good restaurant on the campsite. Otherwise, you'll find nothing but peace and quiet.

We really enjoyed Hindeloopen, Stavoren, and Workum, and we...

We really enjoyed Hindeloopen, Stavoren, and Workum, and we ate there too. We went shopping in Koudum. Since it was already the off-season, we were able to relax completely. Our dog Luna also loved being by and in the water.
