Everyone will tell you it’s a tiny tourist trap with nothing to do etc and yes, it’s the tourists’ first stop in the fjords and everything is overpriced. However, if you explore, you can find things to see and do from there. Flam port is not a little town it's a port with tourist facilities and the famous amazing train trip which we loved. I would recommend people staying in nearby towns like Aurlands which has a little town vibe. This is a scenic place and a getaway for all the ‘Norway in a nutshell’ tours. Unfortunately prices and level of service do not match up. The local businesses are hungry for tourist money, but don’t provide a warm, welcoming environment for visitors. Most everyone travels here to get out to the Fjords. It is not that easy to get there, and the boat trip isn't long. . If I would do it over, I would have taken a cruise from Bergen as you spend more time in the Fjords because you're traveling through them.Guest review bypeterUnited States - 6.0

Flam is at the hub of transportation, where the train, buses, and the ferries meet. It ebbs and flows with tourists which may be overwhelming for some. The Aeger Brewery Restaurant is outstanding if you enjoy beer tasting. I think Flam is good for one night’s stay at most if you want a break from transit and a little more than a stop over to shop, dine, enjoy Aeger, or do a fjord safari (highly recommended!).Guest review byB - 8.0

Flam is a nice stop on a trip in Norway. We stayed one night as we traveled from Bergen to Oslo. It's a beautiful place, unless you are going to hike, I don't think there is any need to stay longer.Guest review bySusanUnited States

The room was warm and comfortable, with plenty of essentials included. Breakfast had plenty of choice and seating. My only complaint would be selfish people in adjoining rooms that think it’s ok to shout out, talk loud or laugh loud late into the night. The staff were so friendly and kind and we absolutely loved our stay. The view from the shared balcony is out of this world. The shared kitchen is lovely.
