I don't think we saw Larvik at its' best - on a cold, dark...

I don't think we saw Larvik at its' best - on a cold, dark and windy December night - the restaurants mainly all shut around 9pm which left us with a slightly dodgy Chinese takeaway in which we found a hair, so not great. However, what we did see was quaint and pretty with a beautiful harbour.

On a road trip through Norway, knowing what I know now, I would have stayed here longer. My ferry is on Wednesday, so I have a day and a half to get to Kristiansand. I would have preferred to stay here longer, lovely hotel, great staff and lovely facilities. Put this on your radar for a stop over.

A nice, quiet little town. Those who venture into the center will find themselves in a "mini San Francisco." Give it a try! 😎🤗 If you're looking for seafood restaurants, you'll have to delve into the depths of the internet. Lovers of international cuisine will be well catered for there.

We were there on a Monday.

We were there on a Monday. A lot was closed, hard to find a place to eat. Finally found Peppes, there we waited 1.5 hours for our food, then we left without eating. Then found a cozy hotel with an outdoor restaurant where we had dinner.

Although you're probably only going to Larvik to catch the...

Although you're probably only going to Larvik to catch the ferry to Hirtshals, the town is a nice place to spend an evening. There was live music and food trucks. There's a nice little marina and terraces. Walking is also possible, but not very extensive.

Larvik may not be the most vibrant place in Norway, but it...

Larvik may not be the most vibrant place in Norway, but it does offer plenty of things to do in the surrounding area. Hungy Heart Cafe, for example, is worth a visit. The Viking Forest is within walking distance of the hotel, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll or simply relax by the water. There's plenty to do in the surrounding area.

This is not a big luxurious hotel chain. It is a very modest comfortable establishment with friendly staff and an friendly old Dog. I loved the place. It was exactly what I needed. I could even help myself with a coffee and a cookie, free of charge.

For a stay in the Larvik/Stavern area this is a great place to rent Airbnb. You settle yourself in a beautiful and newly renovated apartment. You have the whole garden at your disposal and can have breakfast under the cherry tree.

Everything. It is situated in the middle of Larvik, close to ferry, train, bus and the motorway. The room was extremely cozy, and all common areas were super clean. Bonus points for the bathroom that has a fantastic shower :D

We wanted to visit Larvik and Skien, so this seemed like a wonderful option -- being directly between the two. The owners are so friendly and helpful. A great place for families with younger kids, I could imagine.
