The location was amazing. The view was amazing. I didn't realize how perfect the location was going to be when I booked it, I would have happily spent several more nights here. It was close to Akaroa but there was no light pollution for star gazing and we woke up to the sounds of birds and a sunrise over the harbor. Truly perfect.

Much better than the photos!!! A great cottage in a lovely, quiet location. Such comfy seating in the open plan lounge. Huge TV! The main bedroom was perfect for us. I really liked that there were place mats to prevent any damage to bed side table surfaces and for the lounge.( I do travel with a couple of coasters- I know its a bit odd !!!) Good shower. The covered outside seating area was a fab place for relaxing with a good book.

Extremely spacious suite with nice views of the hills and garden. The unit is kitted out very well, with a great selection of drinks, tempting snacks and milk. Short walk to Akaroa town center yet very quiet (just the birds). Rob and Jo were very friendly and told us great stories of the area and NZ generally.

    Charming little town with an amazing bakery called "A La...

    Charming little town with an amazing bakery called "A La Baguette". Plenty of other wonderful shops to browse through and find the perfect gift. Full of history re French settlement in 1840 and British settlement in 1850. It's a really fun drive there too - endlessly zigzagging roads that showcase incredible vistas at each tight turns. Lots of walks in the area too for all levels. I visited in September when it was cool but sunny; I'm sure it must be a bustling place to visit in the Summer months.

    The journey over the hill is spectacular with the reward of a beautiful village at the end to relax and enjoy your surroundings - or get active if that's your thing - with great food options for everyone. Just do it, get yourself over to Akaroa!

    As it was winter it was quieter than in summer and we found...

    As it was winter it was quieter than in summer and we found this relaxing, calm, restful and were calmed by the experience. We loved being able to walk around the central part of Akaroa. We ate at several places and found good variety and quality of food. Loved the boat out to the dolphins and the Giants House especially. Also enjoyed the museum, lighthouse and Barrys Bay Cheeses.

    I can't believe we have not been to Akaroa before.

    I can't believe we have not been to Akaroa before. Such a well kept secret. A quaint town with lovely shops to browse. Beautiful waterfront to stroll along and jetties to explore. Fabulous views from every spot. Highly recommend including a stop in Akaroa in any road trip planning.

    Able to walk everywhere, very peaceful place in May, plenty of places to dine and able to sit outside enjoying the views, Mail Van ride a must. We had fantastic weather and would love to have gone on the sailing ship.

    The best holiday place in New Zealand. I have stayed in many places in and around Akaroa. Such a feeling of peace.plenty of cafes and fish and chips were a "must". It's a place where walking is great.

    This gorgeous cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway, from the cosy woodburner fireplace to the outdoor spa and sauna. Comfy bed and bedding, well equipped kitchen and heaters plentiful throughout for chilly evenings and mornings. A short walk to local pub and a short drive to the port area of town. Hosts live in their house on the property however privacy is good. Really friendly and helpful.

    This was our second visit to Akaroa, and the second time we have stayed at these apartments. They are charming, quaint and comfortable, and we will certainly stay there again. The view of the waterfront from the balconies is lovely, and they are located within easy walking distance to a number of restaurants and bars.

    French Bay House is perfect for a getaway to Akaroa. The cottage is amazingly renovated to original condition. Very cosy and a great manager in Rhonda. Rhonda couldn't do enough for us to make our stay the enjoyable stay it was. We will be back.
