Staying here was the highlight of our trip to New Zealand. The apartment was spacious, well equipped, and comfortable. The views of the water and jetty from the balcony were lovely. It was well located, with shops and food outlets nearby. We went on a two hour nature cruise, and were able to just walk across the road to the jetty to board the boat. The hosts were very helpful with useful information and clear instructions for our arrival.

Jacqui and Tim were exceptional hosts, the full breakfast absolutely delicious and the accommodations charming and fully functional. French Bay House is a little piece of art, beautifully restored. We stayed for two nights so met a few different people each morning and exchanged travel and life stories. we would return in a heartbeat.

Dining options were very poor for a location that sells itself as French. Highlight was fish and chips and the local cinema. Nice cafes and great location. We were lucky to be staying at Beaufort House and breakfast saw us through the day.

We loved the French village vibe.

We loved the French village vibe. The shops and cafes are lovely. At The Brasserie, I mentioned it was my husband’s 70th birthday and the owner brought out a caramel slice with a candle! Loved walking along the waterfront and enjoyed a short bush walk with views, near the lighthouse. The Tini House is in a superb setting right by the water and also great gin cocktails and pizza. We had a wonderful birthday dinner at Ma Maison with a lovely waitress. Had a superb wine tasting at Caldera Estate with oysters and a freshly baked seed loaf with olive oil and herb butter. Lovely staff, especially our French waitress, Solene. The bakery in the village bakes delicious bread daily, and the butchery has superb meat products and an excellent variety of deli items. Had a great pizza lunch at French Farm Estate and enjoyed chatting with the friendly family who own it.

A unique and beautiful little town.

A unique and beautiful little town. We spent 3 days there and felt that was the right amount of time. The food was great - there's a beautiful French bakery in town and the salmon sold at the butchery was amazing! I also recommend The cake shop - it's a unique little place that serves beautiful cakes and tea in old school teapots and teacups. Alpacas were great too, my daughter loved feeding them. Akaroa Dolphin tours run a great tour as well and there's a dog on the boat! The local cinema is also a cute and unique experience - it was very nice. Overall great little town and very friendly locals, recommend for a long weekend away :-)

We had only booked for one night in Akaroa which we regretted as soon as we arrived. The town has such a relaxed vibe & our accomodation was excellent and central to everything we needed. The car stayed parked up as we comfortably walked to supermarket restaurants & souvenir shopping. It was definitely worth an extra night just to relax and soak in the atmosphere.

Charming little town with an amazing bakery called "A La Baguette". Plenty of other wonderful shops to browse through and find the perfect gift. Full of history re French settlement in 1840 and British settlement in 1850. It's a really fun drive there too - endlessly zigzagging roads that showcase incredible vistas at each tight turns. Lots of walks in the area too for all levels. I visited in September when it was cool but sunny; I'm sure it must be a bustling place to visit in the Summer months.

The journey over the hill is spectacular with the reward of a beautiful village at the end to relax and enjoy your surroundings - or get active if that's your thing - with great food options for everyone. Just do it, get yourself over to Akaroa!

Akaroa Waterfront Motels were EXCEPTIONAL. The service by the female management was friendly, knowledgable about the area and understanding when we were thinking of staying an extra night due to bad travelling weather. I was 💯 impressed by the attention to detail with the rooms to give a beachy appeal, the nice soft bed, the cleanliness, as I have been a cleaner in the past. We can't wait to stay again and make more memories and adventures, thank you lovely ladies, it was a pleasure to stay at your motel.

I stayed at Kukupa Matairangi at Akaroa Lavender for my anniversary, and it was truly unforgettable. The setting is absolutely gorgeous – peaceful, private, and surrounded by natural beauty. At night, the stars were breathtaking, making it feel so magical and romantic. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and everything about the stay felt special. I fell in love with the place and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful getaway in Akaroa. 💜

We Were staying for the weekend in Akaroa and left it a bit late to book our Hotel and found only this Hotel had a room left . The Price of the room was very Affordable , Its an older Hotel Built they say in 1882 so we had to carry our bags up the stairs to the room . Well it did the Job for us and found we can walk to the other bars and restaurants very easy . I do like old Pubs and have used a lot in Ireland and the UK so one has to put up with a few minor thing .
