The location is very central. You can walk to attractions in the city within 30 minutes from it. The Skytower is only a 6-minute walk away. We strolled back to the hotel after dinner at the Princess Wharf and it was very cozy. The breakfast was also very nice and we enjoyed it a very comfortable setting with view of the street and Skytower.

The staff were friendly, the room was small but big enough and given that its a converted convent met expectations. The bed was super comfortable. The complimentary snacks were a much appreciated little bonus. The bathroom was beautiful, (I wanted to steal the mirror) and the water pressure was fantastic. The proximity to the city and the free onsite parking make this a great little hotel.

The photos make the rooms seem darker than they really are, particularly those facing the outside. If you prefer more natural light, select the outside (versus lane) facing rooms. The rooms are a bit small, but very well designed, appointed, easy to use, and luxurious for the price. Location is excellent. The seafood restaurant downstairs, kingi, has a great vibe, food, and drinks, as does cafe hanoi, which is next door, but not affiliated with the hotel. We requested adjoining rooms, and got two at the end of the hall with a central door, so felt like a suite (could put our luggage and other items in the shared vestibule). The staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and polite, including reception, concierge, and housekeeping. Service is excellent.

FAQs about hotels in Auckland

Thrilling City of Sails and Volcanoes

Called the "City of Sails" due to the large number of yachts anchored in Waitemata Harbor, Auckland is the largest city of both New Zealand and Polynesia. Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field featuring about 48 extinct volcanoes, this city truly is a blast!

Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sports events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of Viaduct Harbour.

Another must-see is the tallest free-standing tower in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sky Tower. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can even perform the Sky Jump, a controlled base jump from 630 feet!

Climbing the volcanic cones as well as the stunning Auckland Harbour Bridge will provide unforgettable, panoramic views of the city’s skyline. For a different perspective, why not try a cruise or sea kayaking?

Getting to the city center is an easy trip from Auckland International Airport. Find modern hotels, comfortable motels and cheap hostels on Booking.com, sure to have the perfect place to stay for your trip.

Traffic congestion makes driving into and around Auckland difficult and stressful. Plan for at least 45 minutes extra on top of your Google estimated drive times to travel up the southern motorway during moderate to heavy traffic conditions. Auckland CBD is a place to avoid if at all possible.

This was not a holiday trip, but to see a friend off at the Airport. However, the location meant we could include a breakfast catchup with close relatives. the day before. We could conveniently come back from an early start to the Airport and sleep a little longer before our trip to Tauranga and then back home. Much appreciated.

Auckland continues to be crushed with traffic chaos,...

Auckland continues to be crushed with traffic chaos, congestion and ill tempered drivers. Road cones and never ending half-pie roadworks and contractors mostly sitting around watching the madness has been Auckland’s legacy for decades now. It is an multi cultural city, heavily represented by Asian residents and visitors so it’s important that visitors here know that although Auckland has some nice beaches, you will spend the majority of your time not seeing a full and true image of what NZ has been advertised as. Skip the place and look for nature, sights and experience the nation elsewhere.

The hotel is very close to Auckland Airport. Walking distance if it's a nice day, in about 10 to 20 minutes. You can catch the Yellow Bus to the terminals if you don't want to walk. The rooms are quiet with double glazing so there's no airplane noise. Very compact and basic but all you need for a one night stay before an early morning flight or after a late night arrival. It's very close to a big supermarket and a Warehouse for any last minute items you need. The pub downstairs has reasonable food for dinner.

This was our second time staying at Manha Hotel and we'd come back again! The hotel is well situated near Auckland airport and can be accessed by the Yellow Bus. We stayed at the hotel both after arriving in New Zealand and before travelling home and it was absolutely ideal. The bed was really comfortable and the room was very clean. The breakfast was great fuel for before our return flight and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Overall, I would definitely consider staying at Manha Hotel!

Solsen Flexi-Stay was a very good accommodation option close to Auckland Airport. Parking was easy and the hotel was managed by a pleasant and friendly owner. Our room was nice and clean with a very comfortable bed - we slept extremely well! The air-con was very good and there was a prevalence of quietness throughout the accommodation. Fantastic place to stay. I am going to book here every time I have to stay in Auckland, it was that great. Super comfy and spacious rooms. Soft king size bed. Beautifully clean. Loved the bathtub. Only a 5 minute walk from Sky City. It has multiple restaurant options inside the hotel and the parking per day is the cheapest I've found in the city. This is my new favourite home away from home.
