SingaporeExcellent stay! Kim and Katee were so kind and took the effort to show us around. We loved meeting the animals too. The bed was very comfortable that I felt like I was in a hotel! The views in the evenings and mornings were gorgeous. The place is a short drive to a Woolsworth and restaurants. 100% would recommend.

Balclutha is a small rural country town, there all the facilities you need, plenty of places to eat out and shops etc. It is not a city with loads of night life. Dunedin is about an hour away It's a good base to explore the Catlins and the south of the South Island of NZ. The beach at Kaka point is only 20 minutes away there is a street food caravan serves excellent fish and chips. Balclutha is hardly a much sought destination but it is in a prime location to base yourself as you visit the Catlins and the ample attractions on its door step. The river in particular is underrated and provides great fishing and kayaking. The town itself sports most of the shops you expect as well as a supermarket and some great eateries. The hi-light of my trip was definitely staying at the historic Fern & Thistle which is just out of town and is definitely the hidden gem of Clutha.Guest review byJohnnyNew Zealand

Very welcoming hosts, only continental breakfast, but plenty of it and all very tasty. We used the hot tub in the evening, it was lovely sitting out under the stars. Just a short drive to Balclutha where we had a great Indian meal at the Raj. It was fascinating to read the history of the property and Benhar.
