The value for money of the hotel exceeded my expectations. The attention of the staff, especially Lucy, very good and always ready to help with requests. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the location of the hotel is excellent, close to shops and in front of a bus stop.

We enjoyed the continental breakfast in a beautiful room .We liked the feeling of "home" because you can have some fruit and some coffee or tea any time you like.I enjoyed the jigsaw puzzle on the table and the fireplace in the lounge for a rainy day!And we foundthat Lucas and Florencia were very nice and efficient hosts!

Stunning Natural Beauty at Your Doorstep

Dusting itself off from a series of recent earthquakes is the seriously stunning New Zealand city of Christchurch. While its old English buildings like ChristChurch Cathedral are being rebuilt, the magnificent Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park sustain its reputation as the Garden City.

Located along the Avon River, NZ’s 2nd-largest city has Victoria Square at its centre. Surrounding highlights include the Canterbury Museum and the Gothic-style Arts Centre. Sumner Beach is a favourite location for locals when the sun shines.

Out towards the spectacular harbour town of Lyttelton is the Christchurch Gondola ride where you can enjoy a sweeping view of the city.

The South Island’s capital is a good starting-off point for extreme sports such as bungee jumping and white-water rafting. The majestic Southern Alps surround the city and offer world-class ski resorts such as Methven, at the foot of Mt. Hutt.

    Christchurch is quite relaxing and offers some beautiful scenery upon travelling around the region. Travelling around Christchurch is easy as there are cheap taxis, and public transport at convenience. Additionally, Christchurch is very flat so walking/running is an option. I attended a conference at the Te Pae however, had wished to better plan in advance so I could ski Mt Hutt over the weekend.

    I really enjoyed my stay in Christchurch.

    I really enjoyed my stay in Christchurch. We stayed in the center of town and found it a very pleasant area to walk around - gardens, cafes, river walk, historical buildings etc. and also took the time to go hiking in the Port Hills (great views) and to visit Willowbank wildlife reserve (a very children friendly place for a stroll - with both native and non-native wildlife on display (the eels definitely enjoy being fed!) Outside the town, I recommend the Pegasus winery for a delightful tasting and picnic lunch. The setting is just beautiful

    Vietnamese Restaurant was excellent and not expensive.

    Vietnamese Restaurant was excellent and not expensive. Thai Orchid had lovely live music on Sunday evening and wonderful atmosphere and music. Many restaurants close by. Hagley Park was within walking distance and had an amazing light show, Illuminate.

    Good location - room was large and well presented.

    Good location - room was large and well presented. Very powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Staff were friendly and helpful. One negative - the TV did not function properly - it changed channels of its own accord.

    This is our favourite place to stay and have been staying...

    This is our favourite place to stay and have been staying here since 2004 . All staff are wonderful and welcoming. Food in the Den Bar and the restaurant fabulous and it’s good to have the choice as we have family that come into see us as we live out of Christchurch. Will be back in December. Merivale Mall is always worth a visit. Sumner and New Brighton are great sea experiences.

    My old home town so maybe a bit 1 eyed. Best hairdresser ever in Papanui I travel many, many kms to get my hair cut their. It's a cutting bar, no need for appointments and very, very realistic prices start at $20 It's just back before the Northland mall probably 3 blocks back towards the city. there's a need wee vegie shop and a great bike shop in the wee shops that are there. George and his lovely offsider have been through the mill with the quakes.

    1. The location is good. If faces the entrance of botanical garden. If you take a but from airport you get off the bus at the stop Christchurch Hospital, and just within 5-10 mins walk you can find the hotel. It is also not far, probably 10 min walk , to supermarket and intercity bus station. 2 Though it is shared shower/ toilet, not too many people share one that you have to wait. and the toilet/ shower is just beside your room. The kitchen is good and new and well-equipped. The price is good for what you can get.

    Despite being close to the airport it was very quiet. We arrived in Christchurch at 1am and the hotel shuttle arrived promptly after we requested it. The drivers from the airport and to return the next day were very polite and friendly. We are staying there again on our return to Christchurch.
