Hawera is a town of 8,000 people but it seems a lot more. A rural town with a very country feel it has modern amenities and lots of different food options to choose from. Just a quick overnight stay.
Just a quick overnight stay. It coincided with a well put together celebration of Mat ariki but not called that, just a mid-winter celebration. It was winding down as the drums filled with wood to create warmth and ambience had not lasted the distance. The town had obviously come out for it, families and young people mostly. Stalls, food trucks live entertainment. Well done for whomever was the brains behind it. Bought dinner from the pizza place central on the high street opposite an open courtyard area that had a solitary swing hanging. Food was good but took rather a long time.Guest review byJ. Both air conditioning and heating available. The little kitchenette had kettle, toaster and microwave so you could prepare simple meals. Very hot water in shower. Changed towels everyday. The soft bathrobes provided were an extra touch of luxury and comfort. The location was peaceful and was very handy to Hawera township.
