Visiting from Australia (almost 30yrs) being able to enjoy nature without the worry of snakes and poisonous spiders. The great view of the ranges and enjoying country style living of NZ. Also a great to be in close proximity of Whakatāne and my hometime Kawerau.

Took our breakfast with us. It has only been built for 4 years and is new. The location was excellent a short walk to the main street. The Com is attached to the Pub the Commercial Hotel so could pop in for a drink or a meal if you liked. The building design was quite different with separate motel rooms(almost a tiny home) separated by empty garages on two levels Our room had lovely afternoon sun. Plenty of parking and space. Built in front of the big rock cliffs of Whakatane and the Tuis were very busy in the bush in the morning - lovely.

Super nice staff, perfectly simple accommodation in an incredible location. Very nice to sip wine and see the waves crashing on the beach. Short jaunt to best surfing at the west end, or catch some foamy waves right across the road. Really appreciated the loaner bikes to go for a ride on the Burma Road loop, and just to cruise up and down the road to visit cuzzies. Highly recommend!

Everything .... our room was no 13. It had a spa pool, kitchenette, lovely and spacious room with a big TV and sky. Very clean, comfortable and slightly away from the other rooms for privacy. The Motel manager went above and beyond for us, he washed and dried our clothes while we were out of the premises and bought them all back to our room clean ... we really appreciated it, and he was so friendly to all the visitors, so we all got great treatment.
