Picton is a lovely place to spend a few days.. or explore further. Irish pub up the road was good for a drink. Mostly did our own cooking but nice cafes around the corner for lunch. Handy bus stop across the road. Went to Blenheim for a day ( check the timetable.. doesn’t go every day) Walked to Waikawa Bay and back. Edwin Fox museum worth going to as was the Mail Run cruise. We stayed for 3 nights… arriving from Wellington by ferry… and leaving by bus for Christchurch.Guest review byDianeNew Zealand - 10.0

Lots to do and see. Recommend the Edwin Fox museum. Wine tours close by. Ferry port so always busy, Great selection of shops and eateries. Make sure you stop and relax for a while and perhaps walk the hills and surrounds. Pity the gondola never happened for Picton. Would have been an asset for the town. Picton has so much more to offer other than being a ferry...
Picton has so much more to offer other than being a ferry terminal. A wide choice of restaurants & cafes, plenty of shopping opportunities, lovely harbourside walks. There are also a wide choice of boat trips to experience the Marlborough Sound.Guest review byTimUnited Kingdom

Its location in the centre of Picton is an additional benefit as it is only a couple of minutes' walk from shops and nearby facilities.The old world style of decor ,the large rooms which are spotless and supremely comfortable has to be experienced. The restaurant is closed for evening meals , but the welcome touch of a wine and cheese plate is a unique touch. Breakfast is offered and sets you up for the day ahead. There were lots of eateries just around the corner from the hotel in easy walking distance. It was a 5 minute walk to the train station and the ferry terminal. Very close to the Picton foreshore as well. Staff were very friendly and had our room ready to check in when. We arrived.off the ferry earlier than stated. We could not get a harbour view, but our ground floor room was easily accessible, and had a pleasant outlook onto the grounds, which were lit with feature lights. Nicely appointed, comfortable rooms.
