Rhod is such an amiable host and kind person, he took so good care of us. Always open for a chat and happy to share knowledge and answer our questions. It's the small details he takes care of. The cottage is cozy, well equipped and really nice and quiet. Convenient driving distance to Hokitika - but staying in and around the house is even better. Lots of birds to see and hear.

The situation looking out to native bush was a delight and also hearing the birdie and visit every day by a bell bird. Delightful cottage atmosphere with modern facilities and nice decking where you could read and relax.

We loved our stay here! The location was perfect for a trip to Hokitika Gorge and the adjacent restaurant was great. The room was much larger than we expected and super clean and comfortable. There was tea and coffee provided and everything we needed was available.

Hokitika Pioneer Hotel is an old style country pub with attached accommodation. With a casino, the property also features a garden. Guests can dine in the in-house restaurant or relax in the bar.
