Do yourself a favour and stay for a few days at this...

Do yourself a favour and stay for a few days at this wonderful place. There are so many walks, and lots of beautiful spots to explore. It would be a shame to limit yourself to the main street. The museum and the French Printery are certainly worth a visit, as is getting up to the top of Flagstaff Hill and having a coffee from the van on Long Beach. The 4 Square shop is well stocked and reasonably priced if you are self catering.

I have been to Russell a couple of times before but only as...

I have been to Russell a couple of times before but only as day visits so to be honest Ive only stayed in the little township itself but loved that. This time I stayed a night to attend a function. The motel was the icing on the cake because where you stay can make or break a stay anywhere. The view of the harbour below with boats anchored..you couldn't beat. I want to come back..and my friend and I intend to. It's handiness was great. Great afternoon of shopping..something for everyone & delightful 'The Grazing table' cafe for home cooked sweets with delicious coffee. Would have liked to spend more time in the fabulous looking book store..great looking coffee table books on display but I ran out of time. There is something for everyone here. Russell town can easily be walked around in a short time without stopping..but who wants to do that. It's a lovely, interesting quaint place with a lovely harbour looking over to Paihia where you go to connect to main highway..eventually. A day passenger ferry runs regularly from Paihia & to. There are other areas to visit over the hill and the car ferry over from Opua is very quick and efficient. And least but not forgotten..the fantastic Duke of Marlborough hotel and accomodation with its elegance gracing the shoreline is a highlight. I had a lovely evening supportng the Recuse Helicopters fundraising event..it was spent under gorgeous chandelier lighting with all the simple but lovely table settings. Surely a grand gentleman which began in 1827 as 'Johnny Johnsons Grog Shop' by an ex convict come good!

A beautiful serene village.

A beautiful serene village. You need to be prepared to walk & explore the area. Lovely places to eat & drink - our most favourite is Hones Kitchen. Getting out on the water in a boat is an added bonus

One of my favourite places to visit.

One of my favourite places to visit. The views over the water, wandering around the town and awesome restaurants like the French Cafe at the end of the waterfront. So relaxing and peaceful and friendly people.

Beachfront walk, Pompallier House, French cafe next to Pompallier House, Christ Church historic Anglican church, especially the 10:30am service, the Russell Museum with extensive collections exceptionally well-presented and amazing and only $10. Long Beach. Boat trip to Urupukapuka Island and Cape Brett and Hole in the Rock. Okiato 7km away which was the early capital around 1840-1842, and had the site of the first Government House.

A lot of things to do from, the tours, to just walk around...

A lot of things to do from, the tours, to just walk around town, close proximity, of ferry system. I would have liked to chose to stay longer, did not have enough time. The unit I chose was just at the city, line, and thus close enough, if you forgot anything, takes 5 minutes to go bac,k to Bnb, from city center,

Location was perfect - in the heart of Russell with a view over the jetty and bay. The little covered seating area, equipped with outdoor furniture was a great place to unwind and watch the sunset over Paihia. Bentley and Porsche, the local felines, called by each evening to say hello and were delightful. Pool, spa pool and laundry were some of the amenities on offer. We extended our stay by an extra night - three in total. Would recommend and definitely would stay again.

Amazing location right on the waterfront of Russell. Beautifully updated rooms, lovely bathroom, close to everything. Great that they had smart TV so I could use my streaming services. Sky Sport available which was great to watch the All Blacks' match. Easy parking. Four Square and restaurants within a few steps. Easy after-hours check-in process.

It was close to the beach, not far from russells town and just a quick ferry trip to paihia. The accomodation is very clean with a beautiful view. Feels nice and homely.
