We had an amazing holiday here! The alpacas were right in front of our cabin, and the highlight of our stay was patting and feeding them. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable, the host was incredibly friendly, and the view was absolutely perfect.

    It's a beautiful town with an awesome beach.

    It's a beautiful town with an awesome beach. It's close to other towns, so you can make day trips to Whitianga, Matamata, Tauranga, Coromandel, Te Puke, etc. We went to an animal farm, had a beach day, and took a train ride. There are lots of options to eat out, but be aware that the "nightlife" shuts down by 9 p.m.

    Great central location with easy access to Waihi itself, and area's such as Whiritoa, Whanagamata, Paeroa within easy driving distance. Great Steak at The Sterling pub. When coming into Waihi from Paeroa on a nice day, suggest stopping somewhere along the Karangahake gorge for a walk. Beautiful on a sunny day.

    Waihi is a beautiful place to visit the locals are so friendly the shops are great there is a great amount of accommodation, the bush walks are awesome the river is beauiful & the beaches are fun & the weather is neither too hot or too cold

    You can't go wrong in Waihi with fish and chips at Kelly's ,Ti Tree cafe for coffee and brunch and a stay at Araluen House with host Julie. The rim walk at Martha mine has attractive planting and is worth doing.

    We visited Martha's Mine and the Ole Pump House.

    We visited Martha's Mine and the Ole Pump House. This is quite cook esp the "Poppy Fence". Apparently, the walk right round the mine is 5kms so have an extra hour for that. Supermarkets were easy to find, likewise the take-aways shops. Lovely small town place.

    An Outstanding Stay at Araluen Cottage, Waihi! Our stay at Araluen Cottage was absolutely delightful! The beautiful home is warm, inviting, making it the perfect getaway. The hospitality of Jacky was truly wonderful – her kindness and attention to detail made us feel right at home. From garden surroundings to the impeccable comfort of the cottage, everything about our experience was exceptional.     Sandra is an absolute delight! She opened up her new home for me and the room itself, the bathroom everything is super clean and she helped me with a lot of planning since she knows what’s going on! I can highly recommend to stay at her place. Shopping for groceries is close by and there is also a place to wash your clothes in the center. Oh, and the coffee from Waihi coffee roasters was just amazing!:)

    We loved the historical aspect of the cottage, It was a warm and cosy cottage with everything we needed that was easy to find, tucked away by the old Waihi train station. We loved it so much that we will be back to stay for longer. One night wasnt enough. Also seeing trains pretty much out our front door was really cool.

    It was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was equipped so that you can cook your own meals and it was the perfect location handy to supermarket and eateries and not too far to the hot spring pool in waihi.
