AustraliaHad such a stellar time staying here in Whonga. Highly recommended checking out this charming town with lovely locals. The butcher shop is a few doors down from the pub (and every where really) and was clean and had all the amenities you could ask for.

AustraliaBeautifully presented 1900s villa that was super easy to find on the Forgotten Highway. So much thought and care has been put into every corner of the house. The resident 'Kitten' is the sweetest cat and insisted on sleeping cuddles, which we loved. There is so much space, and fully equipped for up to 8 people. The kitchen is amazingly well stocked, and the eggs in the fridge are direct from the chickens out the back. The views from the villa are peaceful and the beds are super comfortable. We left an item behind and Amanda worked her magic to get it back to us within a few hours; an impressive result given the remoteness of the villa.

If you fancy an off the beaten track escape with a trip back in time, this is the place to go! There was a farmers' gathering at the Pub the night we were there - 20+ pairs of gumboots at the entrance to the pub is a different welcome! Having been to this township previously we were drawn back...
Having been to this township previously we were drawn back by the history of the the area. We had dinner at the whangamomona hotel- an iconic building which sits proudly in main street. The evening we dined at this pub seemed quiet but a large group were booked in for the next night. we greatly enjoyed the open log fire in the bar which is where we had our meal.Guest review byLuendaNew Zealand - 10.0

Small settlement with oodles of history. Quaint and the locals are super lovely. Take the time to wander the settlement, read everything and chat to the locals as they are full of knowledge. Pub is the hub, as is usually the case in a small town. Food is exceptional and hospitality is second to none. If you haven't been, get in!! It's a joy to behold in the middle of nowhere.
