Though a small city, with the St Agustin Church & Plaza being the main attraction, the outskirts are beautiful and offer lot of things to do like in Silay, where beautiful Ancestral Heritage homes still stand after more than a century, as well as, very good food trip like El Ideal for their divine crispy thin piayas, guapple pie, and more. Pahanocoy is another outskirt that’s just a 20-minute public bus ride from SM Mall to organic farm FreshStart Organic & Natural where I had exquisite culinary experience in their Lanai Restaurant, 1 of 4, in its organic grounds. The owners & staff even made the time to welcome and visit with me and share their passion of sustainable organic farm to table dining experiences!!!! The house was huge, easily sleeps 10 people comfortably. The hosts where very friendly. The house is in a quiet safe location. There is an a gym 100 metres up the road. One of the best I have ever seen in the Philippines. Metro Supermarket is 10 minutes up the road with a market next door. The only thing I didn't like, the house was a little dirty in some areas. Could have been cleaned a little better. The air conditioner in the master bedroom didn't work properly and the microwave didn't work. But besides that the home was great. There is nothing to do in Bacolod.
There is nothing to do in Bacolod. Landers as a shopping experience was poor, S & R opens next week which may help. There are a few good restaurants Bobs, 51, and the Chinese. The Seda hotel is the best by a mile. The main SM centre is boring and unexciting. Perhaps fishing trips or sensibly priced visits to the hot springs if advertised would be an idea. A nice place to stay. People are polite and courteous. Foods are excellent in taste, presentation & good value for money. The best place we visited : DSB, too many coffee shops and other places that caters to very excellent food. Taxi drivers are honest and their vehicles are clean. You can ask them to take you to the Maskara festival and take part in it too. Visit San Sebastián Cathedral, a landmark of faith and culture. Needing a natural respite from stresses? Head to Mambukal fresh water spring resort and be rejuvenated. The Bacolod Chicken Inasal (barbecue) is an unforgettable touch to the palate while Aboys Restaurant is superior in grilled seafood.
