During my recent trip to the Philippines, I had the pleasure of visiting some of its enchanting islands, and in the Pilar area, I found myself staying at the Forest Garden Residence, a small yet incredibly beautiful lodge. The place exuded tranquility and stunning natural beauty, but what truly made my stay special was the wonderful family running the place. Ms. Joanna and her daughter were some of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met. They were always ready to answer all my questions with love and passion, making navigating and exploring the area much easier and more enjoyable. No request was left unmet, and their continuous assistance added a great deal of comfort and joy to my stay. The building is new and everything was clean. The owner is a really nice guy, the cafe offers good coffee and a variety of meals. There is also a scooter for rent.

When people told me about this place, i kind of thought they were exaggerating a bit, but i was wrong! It is just perfect, the upstairs "hostel" room and the nipa huts are both amazing, the food is exceptional, and you dont have to run around organizing stuff, renting a bike, getting a taxi to the bus station, because the lovely family is happy to help you with everything with the local fees! My favourite moment is when i waited for the tuktuk for the bus station, their lovely boy sat down with me besides the road and we waited for it together. Such a lovely place and family, i already miss it!

The location is off the beaten path providing a rural vibe. Angel and his family are the most warm and kind hearted people we have had the pleasure of staying with during our time in the Philippines. While staying here you are considered family and we don’t say this lightly! The location is close by some villages, waterfalls and a short motorbike ride away from the beach. The main tourist attractions (tarsier sanctuary, chocolate hills) are a bit further away, but we loved driving around on the motorbike around the island, which you can rent from them for a very reasonable price. Angel also provided lots of tips and recommendations regarding where to eat and itineraries for exploring the island. You stay on a little farm with cute piglets, cats and a dog. Behind the cottage is a hill overlooking the island providing a beautiful view of the sunrise. Overall we can not recommend this stay enough, we had an amazing time at Bohol largely thanks to Angel and his family.
