Mark was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the room was comfortable with air con and a fan. The shower had warm water and decent pressure. There’s a sort of ‘roof top’ terrace where you can chill out which is a nice touch, and free water refills if needed. PS. Mark’s dog is adorable!

(1) Perfect location: very quiet, on the other side of a hill so sounds from beach bars don't reach the rooms. It's especially apparent when you walk from the room to the beach in the evening: after you cross the summit you start hearing music from beach bars / restaurants, ones you didn't hear close to the room. (2) Quiet air conditioner: not very strong but sufficient for the room. (3) Decent-sized (not a small minibar type) and quiet (!) fridge, we for example bought fruits and stored them in it. (4) Basically nothing disturbs your sleep when in the room (except possibly your partner? ;-). (5) The real hidden gem is hotel's private beach, snorkeling on it you can see plenty of baby reef sharks!!! I saw maybe about 12 at the same time. Pro tip: don't swim too fast or too much, actually move your hands and feet as little as possible, otherwise you'll scare the sharks. Just get to the right place (a bit further out from the shore, near the rope) and wait a bit. Sharks will come. And don't swim in the area to the right of the entrance limited by rope, it's an area reserved only for the sharks. Instead, hold on to the rope so that you don't need to move and don't scare sharks away. (6) Nearby hotel Blanco Beach Resort has a very good restaurant next to the Tepanee's private beach, and this restaurant serves very tasty food and fresh juices. (7) Soft, comfortable beds (memory foam but it's fine). (8) Nice furnuture, room had a work table. (9) Good WiFi. (10) Hotel is built on a hill so you can save up on gym - just walking to / from your bungalow will burn enough calories ;-) (11) Views from this hill and the partner restaurant are breath-taking.

It feels like a family together. The staff treat you with warmth and care and I am very grateful for the way it was received. Feel at home. Porto beach is very close and in front of the hostel you have the best sunset on the island. The hostel is literally on the seafront. The kitchen is ok and I can cook all my meals I would choose a room with air conditioning as the one with a fan is a bit hot. Every day they clean the room and organize everything. They also provide free towels. It was the best hostel I stayed in the Philippines so far. Thanks to the whole team

The island being small is a bit crowded on the side near the pier and the bounty beach. I haven't explored the northern part of the island so this will make me go back and visit the island again in the future. Good to visit for divers as this is the jumppoint to Kimud shoal where the Thresher sharks frequent to visit.

Malapscua Island is a stunning little island which is not really well known. There are no cars or road on the island, and it takes about an hour to walk the perimeter of the island. There are some stunning untouched beaches and the marine reserve beside Tepanee Resort is amazing. It's a mecca for scuba divers as the famed-Thresher Sharks can be found about 1 hour boat ride from Malapascua. There's a decent selection of bars and restaurants on the island but no party vibe. This is not a place for seedy old men looking for young Filipino girlfriends thankfully.

Well it is quite a long trip from Cebu city as you need take a bus or van (2 hours minimum) up to Maya port then a minimum 30 minute ferry ride(took us 1 hour as waters were rough that day) so we left at 9am got to our hotel after 2pm. It does seem like a mini Boracay as many have described but way less crowded and much quieter. Prices are high like Boracay and night life way more subdued. There are no cars on Malapasqua just motor scooters that share a concrete mini-road which can be annoying for pedestrians as there is constant scooter sneaking up behind you honking their horns. You can rent a scooter for 500 pesos or less per day and ride up to North shore beach which you should absolutely do and enjoy very uncrowded beach with local huts selling beer, drinks & snacks. Many people go diving to see thresher sharks feeding early morning but there is also fair snorkelling spots at various places. I did enjoy Malapasqua overall but I doubt I will return.

Other Reviews confirm same thing, whilst Islamd has a couple nice beaches, it is all about the Diving. We went hoping to do some snorkelling, but r was mixed a seas were a bit rough, so nothing else to do. Summary worth a trip (as difficult place to get to), but only if you are into Diving, or you go when better / calmer weather guaranteed ie more into dry season.

What a wonderful place to find. Very organised fun chaos. Great food, people, music, waters, diving. Market place was fantastic for fresh food BBQ. The Rasta smoothie were EXCELLENT ( main road behind Logon Beach) . The diving was something that will never be forgotten - Gato Island and the Thresher sharks with DIVE NATION - a wonderful team. Thank you.

Everything was great it was very clean, quiet yet close to everything. Staff were very friendly and helpful. When we were starting early for a dive they made us delicious sandwiches for our breakfast to take with us. The breakfasts were really good. They warned us in advance about the blackouts and were very apologetic about them. However if you travel to remote islands this is to be expected and is certainly not the accommodation’s fault.

We LOVED our stay here. Richard and the team do everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. He goes above and beyond! We loved coming to the north of the island to explore the beautiful beaches around here. I saw a few comments about the generator noise - don't let this put you off! At night we felt it just sounded exactly like our fan. Richard also offers earplugs if needed. Food was delicious too. Paradise! :)

Really great place to stay on the island, the staff are great and the dive school that is linked are so so good!! They let me borrow a snorkel and mask for my stay and even gave me a ride to the hostel from the dive centre with my bags. The beds are really comfy and clean, charger points next to bed and loads of fans in the room. Highly recommended.

Liked the room, balcony, outdoor facilities and view. Staff were super helpful with transport off the island. Hotel is next door to Angelina’s (great pizza). Hotel also has its own private beach where you can snorkel for baby black tip sharks. There’s a decent gym and spa too. Overall an impressive venue for Malapascua.
