Estoril is ideal for singles, couples and families who want...
Estoril is ideal for singles, couples and families who want a relaxing break away. There are plenty of hotels, bars, cafes and restaurants but there isn’t a specific area or ‘strip’ of these, they are just dotted around. The casino and its garden are a dominant and attractive focal point so there are a few places near to it. There’s Portuguese food, of course, but also Italian, Chinese, Indian and Japanese. You can get fish and seafood dishes of any sort but there’s also lots of steak on offer. Prices are very reasonable. Some people travel in and out of the town specifically and solely to use the beach by day or the casino by night, some to attend events at the glamorous looking fort on the beach, so the town isn’t dead but it can feel quiet at certain times. It’s definitely a chilled out place to stay in. There are only a few local shops for groceries and not really any souvenir shops. In my opinion, it has more of a local, residential vibe and isn’t touristy. For a change of scene, by train Cascais is just a 5 minute ride away or Lisbon is about 40 minutes away. It’s great to visit either and then escape the crowds by returning to Estoril! There is currently a replacement bus service in operation after 9pm (not sure how easy that is to use) but at other times the trains are very frequent and inexpensive.Guest review byPaulaUnited Kingdom - 8.0
I wouldnt particularly recommend Estoril as a holiday...
I wouldnt particularly recommend Estoril as a holiday destination. It is a residential area full of expensive houses and flats and a couple of big hotels. There is no centre or focal point to the town. The only draw seems to be the casino. There are no shops apart from a supermarket and newsagent and an expensive dress shop. ALthough there are restaurants dotted around the residential streets they dont feel very holidayish. If you are just using Estoril as a base to tour around the area then it will be fine but I would recommend staying in Cascais if you want a holiday resort with a holiday vibe and all the facilities.Guest review bySuzanneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Estoril is a bit of a worn, unexciting beach destination. It has only a few decent restaurants and the Hotel Palacio is probably the only thing really worth visiting. The apartment is very spacious and has all the necessary amenities. Everything was provided, including a washing machine, dishwasher, coffee machine, TV, and much more! The apartment is in a very good location, and Estoril and Cascais are reachable by foot or within minutes by taxi. Perfect location!
