Very nice hotel. The room was big with its own bathroom. I loved the big bathtub! And the view from the balcony (3rd floor) was so beautiful. I highly appreciate that there was a cattle with two cups and tea (black and green) as well as a big beautiful bottle of local mineral water in the room. The tea and water were refilled every day when the maids cleaned up the room. The bedding sheets smelled fresh and the bed was big and comfortable. There was also an extra blanket if you feel chilly. There was a really nice chain of lights attached to the wall behind the bed that gave a cozy light. Additionally, there were two table lamps on each side of the bed and a big room light. The balcony had two curtains, one see through curtain to keep insects out and a thick curtain to keep the room dark at night. They did a good job. A second pool was being renovated while I was there which should be ready to be used in July 2023. I didn't get to use the pools because the weather was too chilly and sun and rain alternated too often, so I preferred the hot springs in the city instead, but in the peak of summer they would be really nice to have. The hotel was super quiet and the staff was friendly and speaks fluent English and French. I really enjoyed my stay. I don't understand why this hotel has only 1 star. It should be at least 2, if not 3. I highly recommend this place.

Fantastic location in central furnas close to supermarket opposite and gorgeous church close by. Everything in walking distance. Great breakfast and really beautifully kind hosts. Room had a balcony with mountain view overlooking mini courtyard. Really grateful for it all 🙏🏼

The best place to stay on Sao Miguel.

The best place to stay on Sao Miguel. You can easily walk to Lake Furnas and Parque Grená which has lots of waterfalls. There are thermal springs you can visit at both Terra Nostra and Poça da Dona Beija (which was great at night time). Espinha cocktail bar was lovely as was Terra Nostra Restaurant. You could spend a whole day walking around the area where there are parks with geothermal activity and a beautiful church in the centre. We ate in a lot and there are lots of lovely bakeries in the town and supermarkets.

Exceptionally nice and comfortable accommodation.

Exceptionally nice and comfortable accommodation. The accommodation was in a quiet location close to a large park, the town centre and excellent restaurants (especially a superb "Restaurante Tony's"). A free parking space on the street nearby was available even when returning from trips in the evening. The landlady was very nice, she cleaned the room every day and changed the towels every day. Cleanliness was outstanding. The room overlooking the courtyard with the pool and with access to the terrace (table, parasol, chairs) was spacious and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace and a kettle in the room contributed to the morning comfort.

This is a rather hilly town, so it might not be ideal for...

This is a rather hilly town, so it might not be ideal for people with walking difficulties. In many of the streets the cobbled footpaths are very narrow - less than a metre wide - and many drivers go much too fast, which is scary for pedestrians. Finding a place to park near the centre is virtually impossible. I imagine a wheelchair user would struggle with the narrow, cobbled streets. However, Furnas has got lots of friendly, helpful people who seem to be happy to direct visitors to the caldeiras (hot springs) and other attractions such as the botanic gardens. If you don't speak Portuguese, you'll find many of the younger people, and those in tourist-facing businesses speak at least some "tourist English". Many of the signs in areas that are of interest to tourists are printed in Portuguese and English.

Beautiful houses in lovely park surrounded by bamboo plantation, SPA, cold swimming pool, warm jacuzzi bath, sauna and gym. Walking threw the town and the fantastic botanical garden, looking for the cozido cooking in the hot pools and relaxing in the warm thermal pools. Looking for restaurant "Tony", meals must ordered a day before.

The garden and the thermal pools are by far the highlights of this hotel. The breakfast food is good, the cozido experience in the restaurant is very good, and the rooms are clean and offer towels to use in the pools, which are open 24h a day. The garden is beautiful and very relaxing, the location is great, right in the middle of the town of Furnas, with parking lot, it’s all very relaxing and beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The apartment in strategically placed in Furnas so that you can park on the street and then never think of your car again. We hiked up to the lake directly from the apartment and the Poca da Dona Beja thermal baths are 5 minutes on foot. The room is spacious and welcoming and we were sorry not to be able to use the outside space because of the weather. It also seemed very pleasant.
