The timeline monument of Örebro and Sweden history at Järntorget really got me. In swedish though, but still fascinating. I liked the location. The staff were friendly. The photos on booking.com suggested something that wasn't really there. I can't remember exactly what was said at the check in but the check out was interesting. The reception desk was closed. We left the keys in the room. It was easy enough but unexpected and relied on us guessing the process. The hotel was good, no complaints but as I said, not what I expected given the photos. Other times when I have stayed in old hotels, there is an element of the old-world charm and facilities. The town was quite cultural, with its huge and historically significant castle, and outdoor museum of wooden buildings - but the indoor museum is currently undergoing a year long refurbishment and so inaccessible. The town is also quite pretty, particularly along the river. For shoppers there is a good selection of stores, as well as cafes and restaurants. Like all of Sweden it will be found expensive by non Scandinavians. This is the primary reason we book this hotel. Perfect location! Very positive surprise - we got a HUGE room - 2 double beds and an L-shape sofa - overlooking the Castle (Slottet)! Another plus is the breakfast.
