Everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations. The receptionist gave us a map and showed us where to find a local market with street food where we had lunch. It was excellent. The walking tour organized by the i centre was very good too and our guide showed us the highlights of Ljubljana over 2hrs, ending with a funicular ride to the castle. We would definitely recommend the Grand Plaza and hope to return one day.

A very nice hotel with fun and smart design. Particularly cool restaurant with modern feeling and very attentive staff. The bathroom and the room (414) double premium was decent size and had everything needed. The room service is conveniently available to order from the smart TV. The bathroom was nice and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast was decent and creatively served. Good value for money and much better than 4 point by Sheraton and Intercontinental Ljubljana, where we used to stay in our previous visits. Free of charge parking in front of the hotel and warm welcome with a gift for our dog was a very nice surprise.

I've been to hotels in many countries, in the most prestigious destinations. I've a good base to judge the hotels. There's plenty to like about this one! The location couldn't be more central of the Old Town is your interest. It oozes of charm. Breakfast was sumptuous and tasty. Interiors were stylish and functional, room was huge. Electronic window shutters were a nice touch. The view was awesome. Bathroom was impeccably clean, stylish and bright. Classy. The lift was a positive surprise, I didn't expect it. Staff was helpful and professional. This is a very nice boutique hotel and I recommend it to anyone.

We loved our stay at the hotel. We are on a trip to Europe and it was the best so far. The room was large, the facilities were excellent and extremely clean, but the highlight was the service! Great location, comfortable, great breakfast with eggs made to order, common tea/coffee room open until 10 pm they also tend to have cookies and croissants from breakfast. Jure (I'm not sure if I got the spelling right) was great help and gave us recommendations for the best restaurants and route to walk for sightseeing and Christmas markets. We loved those huge automatic wooden doors 😀

A Capital City with a Small Town Charm

The charming Slovenian capital, Ljubljana is the only large city in the country. Dominated by the Castle Hill with Medieval Ljubljana Castle on top, the city is a picturesque Balkan mix of architectural styles, romantic bridges and scenic views.

Due to two major earthquakes in 1511 and 1895, which destroyed many buildings, the Old Town features a range of styles: from Roman period, through Medieval Baroque to Vienna Secession. Ljubljana is one of the most beautiful cities i´ve been so far. The city is very clean and very safe, with beautiful architecture and statues. I can recommend a guided tour, to learn more about history, culture and architecture (by land and by river boat).

Amazing capital city in beautiful Slovenia and very affordable for those looking for somewhere a bit cheaper than Switzerland but same sort of nature of trip. I took the funicular up to the castle which was €6 return and had pints of lager at Many and Mary's which ranges from €4 to 4.50 a pint (much cheaper than the UK) From Ljubljana I was also able to day trip it to Venice in Italy which cost me £34 (€39) return with Flixbus and return back to the same hotel in Ljubljana that night so it's extremely good there for international transport Getting around Ljubljana itself was easy and very walkable, no need to use buses there if your able to use international data allowance and Google maps which worked fine for me with Giffgaff, 5gb ran out on my final day as I arrived into Vienna airport to go home

Ljubljana is a well connected city in Slovenia and almost all parts of Slovenia are within a 2-3 hour travel distance from there. This makes it a great central location to explore the natural wonders of this country. The country is a treasure of natural beauty no matter what season you visit.

It is a great city to visit for a few days. Easy to explore, friendly and not overcrowded. Just walk around and explore the streets, squares, markets, riverbank, galleries and castle. An ideal location also to visit other places in Slovenia

Arrivals could be better - taxi apps didn't seem to operate from the airport - my ride in was probably a bit non legit and I stuck to the cost the apps said. 53 euros cash. I stayed in Old Town - pedestrianised - so a short walk from taxi drop off - same in reverse for departures. Uber would pick up to go to the airport c.41 euros. Eminently walk-able. All the 'sights' are close to the river and surrounds, Old Town is reminiscent of Zagreb. Super exhibit at the Jakopic Gallery [star of the city]. National Gallery is good too, though be sure to have ticket handy as they seem to ask about 5 times every 20 paces - quite annoying. Try out the Nostalgia of Route 66 Bar. It is a reasonably priced place for food, drink and the day-to-day. Far less expensive than more Northern and Central EU cities, more expensive than S.E.Asia. In between cost wise. 5 euros kebab, 8 euros entry to National Gallery. 3 full days is plenty adequate, 7 days would get boring. Could certainly be a location for a regular short city break if flight times were more convenient. [Helsinki is easier for me] Most everyone was respectful and polite and it is easy to spot where the trouble would come from. Stroll around the river and Old Town after dark and you will be fine I think.

The room, which was was clean and comfortable, was located at the opposite side of the courtyard from the main hotel and reception with secure entry using the room 'keycard'. Although the room was on the small side, any negatives assocciated with this were more than made up for by the great location, only about a 2 minute walk to ther main square. The breakfast buffet was good value with a choice of items. Overall, given the hotel's city centre location, the room, was good value and I would stay again.

I loved this hotel, located right in the centre of Ljubljana. Both my room and the staff were great. It is a 5 minute walk from the bus station, train station and also the city centre. I definitely recommend it. Also the toilets and bathroom were clean. The only address I will prefer when I come to Ljubljana again. Thanks for everything.

An amazing hotel apartment that was perfect for our family. It was 2KM from the city centre but they have a deal with a local taxi firm that takes you there for 6 Euro. The staff were brilliant and my boys loved the shower in the apartment.

The hotel even though it may seem that it is long way from center is actually very accessible by car or bus and you dont need more that 10 minutes to city centre. Also breakfast, room and service was more than good for its value
